Paint question

Since the weather is crappy and I don't want to drive the stang aroud for estimates, I was wondering what a ballpark figure is to have the front clip of my car painted with a new cowl hood and rear bumper painted too. I don't want to get riped off. Got a quote in August for the whole car and it was $5200!! I paid 6000 for the car! My car is red and I know that paint is expensive.

I had three quotes on my car ranging from 5-7.5k.

That's not a bad price for a full repaint. really id have someone come look at the car. A reputible body shop will do that for you if you can't readily drive the car and are within a reasonable distance to them.

Wow I guess it is that much. My paint is not that bad at all. Just wanted to make it perfect.

I think for just a repaint I would expect to pay around $3k. They have $1000 roughly just in material.

At least for paint/clear. Then there is sandpaper, tape, paper, etc. It all adds up lol

Wick how much paint did you have to buy and where did you get it from. I would like to get a price fot it.

I only paid $2200 to get mine painted. That included installing and painting body kit, all body work , paint door jambs and under trunk and hood. Guess I got a good deal.

I wouldnt pay anymore than 3k for paint, unless its a showcar then the skys the limit. All the labor is in the prep work not the paint. I would figure $150-200 a panel for repairs. Body guys like quik repairs, fender benders, thats the easy quik money.

That was about 5 years ago in Virginia Beach, Va.
I got a quote about a year ago to paint my 94 for around $2500 from a little shop in Butler. But if you want perfect your going to pay more and still may not get it. You need to check out some of the shops previous work. And make sure you get in writing how long its going to take so it doesnt sit in paint jail.

Got my supplies from the supply store in mcdonald. Forget the name. I will find out tomorrow. Cheaper than my cousins discount at lloyds too. My cousin does a lot of paint work too. Wins many shows.
