Hi, I'm running a mostly stock 5.0 punched out 30 over with a kenne Bell supercharger. I'm running a MSD-BTM that has the adjustable timing retard located in the glove box.
I have been told that this is old school and the way to go is a custom burnt chip to control the timing. The BTM has a vacuum/boost hose running to it and I can control how much timing retard I get for each pound of boost.
If I accelerate slow I can pull 5,600 RPM with no boost.
Or I can punch it at 1,900 RPM and get 6lb boost
How does a chip in the computer know how much boost or when the supercharger is boosting to retard the timing?
