    Rear Disc Questions.....

I have a friend who was talking about taking his Fox 8.8 rear axle and having Ford 9" axle ends put on it. My first question is... How much stronger does that really make it??? My next question is what Rear Disc Brake setup would he need to go with after that?

I was guessing that he would need to get Explorer 8.8 rear disc's, but just not sure...

Thanks in advance for your input.

That is a nice upgrade because you eliminate the need for C-clip eliminators and weld the tubes at the same time, so not necessarily just for strength as welded 8.8 axle tubes does the same. But yes, 8.8s should have the tubes welded for strength for drag launches (find Ares' thread on that ;) ).
I have a 9" and use the SVO/Explorer rear disc but many options exist from all the major companies---Wilwood, Baer, Strange, etc.

Going to a 9" end eliminates the c-clip axles, its great idea for performance oriented applications. Just be sure to have the correct 9" ends installed, there are several different sizes. The most economical one is the large bearing end that accepts the ford explorer rear disc setup.
