That's a long haul for me, but I want to go at least once. If I like the track, probably more. Anybody have experience there? Does it hook? How is the overall facility? I only have Steel Valley and PRP to compare it to.

If you mean Sunset, picture Steel Valley without all the nice stuff ;)

Here is a picture from the Starting line ...

I've seen wheels up pictures from there when it's prepped for racing so ...

Sunset bills itself as the birthplace of bracket racing ... It is not sanctioned.

Mercer, there's a blast from the past................

I remember taking my first pass (ever) at Sunset, 1979, age 17

My 67 Mustang, 351C 4 speed, 150 shot (pretty crazy street car for back then)

Back then Mercer was outlaw racing, run what you brung, no tech,

OPERA music blaring as they served sausage & peppers in the snack shop!

Here's some history I dug up of that old relic!

At least Sunset has a scoreboard unlike Steel Valley.

I put Steel Valley (Friendship Park) in that same category. For Steel Valley, it's also resonable prices, so many thing wrong with it you cant count them (Uphill, crown, rough, etc), but in the end, I've left there with a smile on my face every time :D I usually look for an excuse to get out there once a year anyway.

First time I was there .....

Me (to owner that was taking money) ... where do I go for tech?

Owner ... I assume you have raced before?

    Me ... Yes

Owner ... Then I assume you have what your car is supposed to have, put your name on the card and turn it in at the tower.

Those was new last year (I think it was last year, if not during the one before).

Ahh sooo this is the Mercer 1/8 mile strip?! Cool, I was their as a wee young lad to see my dad's buddy Mark Claypool run his Plymouth Arrow. He also took me for a mild pass down it too, which was awesome goin for a ride in a real Drag race car! Its ran 7s in the 1/4 then!
Btw the FLD's site got updated, and its the most race dates I've seen yet!
