prostar knock offs

what do you guys think of the summit and jegs prostar knock offs? would they make my car cheesey or not ?is it welds or nothing ? thanks guys and also what sizes on 2002 gt

Yeah weight is the only big drawback to the summit/jegs wheels. They do look good though

Remember these comments are comming from someone that freely admits he has an addiction around ProStars (and owns a set of cast knock offs) .... To me, they will make your car look cheesy and cheap. (mine included).



I have real ProStars for my drag tires and run them on the front of the car with skinnies full time. I bought the cast knock off's for street tires thinking it would be a cheap way to get the look without the price.

The issue with any of the casty knock off wheels (beyond stupid weight), is the lug nuts. These wheels fit a GM car (5 x 4.75 pattern) better than a Ford (5 x 4.5 pattern). This is becasue of the large center bore in these wheels. This brings the inside of the "lug hole" REALLY close to the center bore.



The bores for the lug holes can not be any bigger than they are or the would break through, and they arent big enough to use a real socket or 4 way or whatever. You are left either using a special thin wall socket or a 3/8" drive (plug socket) with an adapter and a regular acorn lug nut.

I did find a solution I liked with McGard spline drive lug nuts ...




These use a tool that goes past the wheel face and then you can use anything you like to remove them on the tool ...



I have had to machine the ends off mine to accomidate the long studs I run, so they now look even more cheesy on my car.

So they are cheap, look okay from a distance ... especially to a casual viewer, I have had my car at cruises and most onlookers dont notice them. Beyond that, I hate them and they will be out of my "collection" as soon as I can come up with another set of real ProStars.

Again, I freely admit my addiction to real ProStars, so take it FWIW ;)

looks like its welds all the way! 15x8 and 15x 3.5or 15x4 sound good? 275-50-15 &165-80-15 sound right? lots of questions but im used to buying 17 inch rims.
