This is like the wife's car, bel-air is the lower grade of her impala. Makes me mad they did this to a nice old car.

Definitely. Death traps for sure in comparison to the engineering that goes into crunch zones and support points in new cars.

No collapsible steering column in the Belair either. That's the first video I ever saw that would make me want to be in a 09 Malibu over a 59 Impala for sure.

If you ask me, I think the chevy was rusted. You can see alot of brown dust just after impact.

Saw that a few years ago. Even if today's cars are boring to look at, you have to admit they are so much safer than the old cars we all love.

x2....im guessing the reason chevy did this was to show how much car safety has improved over the years because the old one got f'ed up!

There didn't appear to be a drive train in the 59....

i saw this video a long time ago & it was said that there was no drivetrain in the car & that it was badly rusted. pay attention to the shot of the passenger side video of the 59 also, it starts at the 57 sec mark. on impact look at how the passenger fender just sort of slides around like it wasn't even completely bolted to the car. there is no doubt that the 09 is safer, just would like to see a fair comparison
