    Quaker City

Okay, well I was having a hard time finding new info for this year's season at Quaker City. I figured out why . . . it was renamed . . . Quaker City Motorsports Park! Did anyone notice who the new track manager is? Greg Miller from PRP! Humm! So I wonder what changes will be made this year at Salem?

Yeah they changed the name when Mr. Fox purchased the track from the previous owner Dan Swindel. Greg Miller will be the new manager and to me it looks like a mirror image of the way PRP was ran. The two tracks should be very close in the way they operate.

I wonder if that is good or bad, running the tracks the same.

Quaker city is a way nicer track so if there ran the same then people will flock to the nicer track IMO.

Ive gone to PRP so many times & got 1 maybe 2 runs in 8 hrs

Every time I go to Quaker I get 3-4 runs in a 5-6 hour period.

Quaker always hooks.....PRP...cant really say that.....

Quaker City is all grass & pavement.

PRP is gravel & has next to no grass or room.

Dude I have no problem with people prefering QCMP over PRP and talk up Quaker, but the info you post on here is not currently correct and has not been for a couple years.

#1 PRP's TNT runs from 6-11 so how do you get 1 "maybe" 2 runs in 8 hours. Anyone that went to PRP last year will tell you that they got plenty of runs. A lot of nights people were leaving early because they were satisfied with the amount of runs.

#2 QCMP's track surface has been so poor in the last few years that people were refusing to go there and the ones that did many were asking for their money back because the track conditions were so poor. Yes, it will be much better this year because they are supposed to grind the track and resurface it, but will continue to go up hill because of the bedrock that the track sits on. I still would not go as far as to say that PRP doesnt hook. Ask anyone that runs at PRP such and has a car that works as Bob or Ed who continue to break parts lol.

#3 QCMP is all grass and pavement (which is very run down), but PRP has probably 2X the amount of property and has plenty of grass. It might not be right where you want it but there is plenty of it. They are also putting down more pavement to cover so of the gravel and will continue to do so. When they bought QCMP they didnt purchase all the property so they have even less now and will have to make a new entrance and still dont know where they will park spectators.

Anyway both tracks have their pros and cons and should continue to get better with support. I just can't stand stupid a$$ post that dont help anyone reading the tread for good info.

I'm looking forward to going back there this year with the UMTR in May. Quirky place but I've always enjoyed racing there.

I like QCR a lot but hoping the track manager isn't a 'bad' thing.

    Friday Night T&T FTW!!!

  13. #13
Sounds like good news...that Greg dude seemed to really turn around PRP last year. I got 7 runs in on a T&T at PRP last year- insane for them!

That uphill back half at QCR does kind of suck, but oh well. I'll still be there a few times this year.

We talked with Greg at the beginning of last season and he seemed like a pretty nice fellow. We went to QCR once in 2009 for a weekend TNT, we got hasseled by everyone! We were just checking the place out and didn't feel welcome at all! We weren't sure about where the staging lanes were or anything and the crew wasn't very helpful. Hopefully it will be better now. I am in favor of the Friday night TNT.

I didn't get less than 4 passes at PRP last season for TNT, and all of their clean-ups seemed pretty quick, when I was there anyway.

I really hope Quakler turns around this year. If anyone went there they can tell you that the way the track was ran was in-efficiant and a complete cluster. You would go on a fri night and if there are only 50 cars you would still get 2-3 runs before bracket finals. They wanted to save on the lighting. There were times when we went and the weather was fine and then they closed becasue the barometric pressure changed. It is about 2 tenths slower than norwalk and thompson. They are doing a lot of work to the track surface so hopefully it picks up a little. I hope they turn that place around.

Lol I tried not to get all rowd up :D. Yes Im a firm support of PRP because I have been racing there for almost 15 years and its like my second home but I would never bash another track with info thats not even close to beign correct. Yes, QCMP is better then PRP in ways and vice versa but please aleast post good info. Come on, QCMP's track surface has been so bad for years that the first thing they are doing is tearing it up. Im sure it will be 100% better this year.

I hope they are fixing the uphill so that QCR can turn out comparable ET's

If you mean the uphill in the second half of the track, I am pretty sure that is not possible, if what I'd heard is correct. That back half is on top of a long sheet of bedrock, which would be way too expensive to try to pound through to make a level track.

I'm with Mikey... I believe there were a lot of positive changes last year. I didn't hit many test n tunes, but the ones I hit, lanes stayed open even past 11pm, to give a full session out to all racers, and the weekend ones went longer than posted to give racers additional passes.

I can certainly understand going to a track closer to you. PRP is an hour closer to me than QCMP, so that's where I'm going. Besides, I don't want to be in with a bunch of Browns fans.

At the PRP banquet Saturday night, Michael Tedesco said that his main business is now under control, allowing him to become more involved with the racetrack. I sure hope he builds on all the good foundation Greg laid down. Greg is definitely going to be an asset to QCMP, as is Mr. Fox's ownership.

Wherever anyone goes, I hope they have a blast. If you come on a regular race day, look me and Balaska up.

I know alot of racers that have raced at both tracks & feel the same way I do so I guess we're all "incorrect" in our thoughts & experiences according to Mr. Balaska347.......
A lot of racers with your mind set and attitude torward PRP? Im sure their opinions would be as good as yours.

Im not posting info thats my personal opinion. Im posting factual info for other subscribers. If you haven't been to PRP recently then you have no business posting about the place. Anyone that frequented PRP last year more then once could tell you they made big gains in the program. Anyone that has been to QCMP in the last few years will tell you (other then your biased opinion) the place has been a total joke and is run down. Just read some of the post in this thread. Go on other sites...

1.4x 60ft times? I do that all day long at PRP footbraking, big deal. How about the cars at PRP with .99X and 1.0x 60ft's that wont even drive in the direction of QCMP.

On a good note, QCMP is under new ownership and management and is making major changes to the track and program this winter and will be a great place to race in 2011. PRP also seems to be continuing to get better as they are putting more pavement down. For those that didn't like PRP last year, you aren't going to like QCMP because Greg Miller came from PRP and QCMP is gonna be very close to the way PRP was ran.
