#1 PRP's TNT runs from 6-11 so how do you get 1 "maybe" 2 runs in 8 hours. Anyone that went to PRP last year will tell you that they got plenty of runs. A lot of nights people were leaving early because they were satisfied with the amount of runs.
This 8 hour day was on a Saturday race day.....started at 11am and I finally got my 2nd. pass in at 6:30 that night.....which I won but then proceeded on my way home anyway as I couldnt take it any longer.

Yes, it will be much better this year because they are supposed to grind the track and resurface it, but will continue to go up hill because of the bedrock that the track sits on. I still would not go as far as to say that PRP doesnt hook. Ask anyone that runs at PRP such and has a car that works as Bob or Ed who continue to break parts lol.
I will admit QCR's surface hasnt been the best the last year or 2 but I went to a T&T there last year and pulled 1.4x....60's on everyone of my runs

When they bought QCMP they didnt purchase all the property so they have even less now and will have to make a new entrance and still dont know where they will park spectators.
Run down? I'll take the "supposed run down" grass & pavement at QCR and you can have the gravel @ PRP............

Im stating my opinion as you have yours. These are the experiences ive had at both tracks. Ive only raced at PRP maybe 20 or so times in my life and I can only remember 2 or maybe 3 of those PRP trips being positive ones....;)
Im all for more tracks being open & successful....but I just prefer QCR over PRP. Another reason being that QCR is much easier to get to, atleast for me..

Yes, QCMP is better then PRP in ways and vice versa but please aleast post good info. Come on, QCMP's track surface has been so bad for years that the first thing they are doing is tearing it up. Im sure it will be 100% better this year.
"Info thats not correct"......according to who......you?
I know alot of racers that have raced at both tracks & feel the same way I do so I guess we're all "incorrect" in our thoughts & experiences according to Mr. Balaska347.......

I truly hope PRP make some improvements this year as i'll probably make a trip there this coming season to see what its like this year. If its a positive experience i'll more than likely frequent my visits there. If its a negative experience then i'll be done there for the year as im tired of giving PRP my time & money & having a bad experience time & time again....
I truly wish that its a positive experience as it would be nice to have a few local tracks to chose from to have a good time & do some racing.

If you mean the uphill in the second half of the track, I am pretty sure that is not possible, if what I'd heard is correct. That back half is on top of a long sheet of bedrock, which would be way too expensive to try to pound through to make a level track.

I'm with Mikey... I believe there were a lot of positive changes last year. I didn't hit many test n tunes, but the ones I hit, lanes stayed open even past 11pm, to give a full session out to all racers, and the weekend ones went longer than posted to give racers additional passes.

I can certainly understand going to a track closer to you. PRP is an hour closer to me than QCMP, so that's where I'm going. Besides, I don't want to be in with a bunch of Browns fans.

At the PRP banquet Saturday night, Michael Tedesco said that his main business is now under control, allowing him to become more involved with the racetrack. I sure hope he builds on all the good foundation Greg laid down. Greg is definitely going to be an asset to QCMP, as is Mr. Fox's ownership.

Wherever anyone goes, I hope they have a blast. If you come on a regular race day, look me and Balaska up.

A lot of racers with your mind set and attitude torward PRP? Im sure their opinions would be as good as yours.

Im not posting info thats my personal opinion. Im posting factual info for other subscribers. If you haven't been to PRP recently then you have no business posting about the place. Anyone that frequented PRP last year more then once could tell you they made big gains in the program. Anyone that has been to QCMP in the last few years will tell you (other then your biased opinion) the place has been a total joke and is run down. Just read some of the post in this thread. Go on other sites...

1.4x 60ft times? I do that all day long at PRP footbraking, big deal. How about the cars at PRP with .99X and 1.0x 60ft's that wont even drive in the direction of QCMP.

On a good note, QCMP is under new ownership and management and is making major changes to the track and program this winter and will be a great place to race in 2011. PRP also seems to be continuing to get better as they are putting more pavement down. For those that didn't like PRP last year, you aren't going to like QCMP because Greg Miller came from PRP and QCMP is gonna be very close to the way PRP was ran.

So wnat is to be expected with Greg this year? I know last year the staging lanes were so bad it wasnt funny. Whats Greg all about?

I was at Norwalk and a guy didnt have his belts buckled and the starter almost made him pull out of the way so he could run the lanes. Thats how it should be.....no dickin around.

Not saying that 1.4's are anything spectacular but I couldnt run a better 60' at Norwalk....so whats that say?

Ive heard mixed reviews on this Greg Miller on various sites so I guess i'll make my own judgement on his actions this coming season at QCR. Lets hope that both track improve for everybody's sake.

You DO realize that there are more factors to your 60ft than just traction, right? My 60ft was better at PRP last season and I didn't change a thing on my car. Could have been due to hotter temps, DA, etc..

I went to watch QCR last season a couple of times, but only raced there once. It was during the car club track rental. I had a blast because the car club did a great job of staying organized, so I can't comment on how QCRs staff does it.

PRP this year was much better than last. Track really started to hook with the new management. Both stick cars I ran there I could launch over 6200rpm and dead hook. Went 1.56 in a near stock '03 Cobra and 1.60 in my near stock automatic Firebird.

Just got word that the UMTR added a second race at QCR. Looks like I will get out there a couple of times this year.

Okay, we were looking at the UMTR site and the info on track site. Is it more strictly drag cars or are there a lot of street cars. Would love to participate in some good racing, but with a stick we just can't compete. This looks like it is right up our alley. Can you guys give me some info on these events?

The UMTR runs two classes. Quick stick and street stick. No real difference in rules, just an ET break. Lots of guys double class so you will get full on drag cars in SS, but its hit or miss.

I will say a couple of things, its typically $25 to run street stick, and you will get two time trials and at least one round of elimination so it compares with a test and tune, with the chance to go further ;) the other thing is that you will not race with a nicer group of people. In general they are there for a good time, and are just beyond nice. Every time I run with them someone (usually multiple people) thank you for coming out to race with them. They have made me feel welcome EVERY time I've run with them and I usually take some of their money ;)

I love racing with those guys. At a minimum, you will see one bell of a show!

I will post up a thread closer to the races, but look us up out there (ASSuming my junk runs) ... We have a decent little 2.3 group from Ohio and we are planning a meet up for the May race. We will have food / drinks / etc. Details when it gets closer.

We will definitely keep you in mind. My husband has a black 02 WS6 and I have the 03 Cobra. We will be at PRP for the TNT when it starts in April.

I use to run my 01 GT Mustang at Quaker back in 2002. I'm planning on attending at least once this year with my new build. My cousin Bob Bastian has been running at Quaker in Super Pro for over 15 yrs now.

I think those manual trans only classes sound pretty cool.!!
