Exclamation 03 cobra fuel pressure sensor bad?

So I'm drivin along today to the car wash and hammered on it once and hit rev limiter spinning and thru a code, p0190, fuel pressure sensor malfunction, I've heard these sensors tend to go bad on modded cars any ideas before I go spend cash on this sensor??

Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor is common. I used to carry one as a spare in the glove box.

Yeah it used to happen to me every now and again. I just took it to a local garage and have them clear the code.

If I replace that sensor would the check engine light go off or will I have to clear it, I already tried to clear it with my code reader but it wont

Did you replace the bad part first before clearing the code? If so I can clear the code for you once it's fixed. If you are near the Airport area I would be glad to help. Let me know.

Yes if the sensor is bad it will not allow the code to be cleared. Some sensors are not 'tested' by the engine computer every time you start the car so the code can be cleared even with the bad part still installed, while others will not let you clear until the bad part is replaced. Keep us posted.

It only through that code on me twice in the 3 years I had the car. Only hit the rev limiter once.

It seems that if the sensor is actually bad that the code cannot be cleared. That is probably why you were able to clear the code and keep on truckin Kevin. :)
