Exclamation SN-95 5.0 rear main seal replacement

OK, so it's time to replace the rear main seal. How much PITA can I expect? Pull the h-pipe, tranny, clutch...anything else? Any special tools I should need?

Any other (.........let's call them "repairs" so my checkbook doesn't get mad if I call them "upgrades") that should be done? New clutch is already in there.

Anyone here wanna do it for a nominal fee (less than a dealer hopefully)?

Replace the pilot and throw-out bearing while you are in there. The pilot bearing can be a PITA to get out, I've had luck with the old grease trick. The rear main can sometimes be a pain to remove and reinstall uniformly, but with a little patients it is not hard. I have to do mine again too. this will make like 6 or 7 that I've done. Don't waste your money on the teflon lined rear main seal from fel-pro, it leaks just as much as the normal cheaper one.

I just got the ford racing seal from LMR. Does the pilot bearing need replaced? My throwout bearing is making quite a racket and it's on the list as an actual needed repair, I didn't think about the pilot.

How much time do you think this will take? 4-6 hours? days? weeks?
