    Slid off the road today

Well, first off let me say I have horrible luck. I was driving to work today, slid on ice and hit a retaining wall. The front bumper is messed up as well as the Mach 1 chin strap. What a mess. I was doing 5 under and still slid and hit.

My question is how far from the road does a retaining wall have to be in North Strabane twp?

I had to leave the svt focus about 3 miles away from the house, people need to plow them roads! Termygirl0304 had to come get me with her 4x4! I didnt wreck, I just couldnt go forward anymore, and it took me 2 1/2 hours to get home! Usually takes me 45 to 50!

Ouch, sorry to hear fellas. In my neighborhood, the plow trucks are usually always here, but I took a stroll out and Lincoln Way wasn't even touched since the precip started.

The parts are kinda cheap but the paint work is expensive!

Sorry to hear about the bad luck. A cheap beater is one of the best winter mods for a rwd V8.

Mustang Sally will go anywhere in the snow...as long as you trust her and take your time. I live in McKeesport and my Dad lives in Somerset. I def used my dad's Kobuta to dig me out so I could go home but Sally and I always made it.....now matter how many times we burned thru 1st, 2nd, 3rd.....3rd always catches...4th is a life saver!!

Sorry to hear about your day. While I know it stinks, at least you weren't hurt, your car can be fixed, nobody else was involved, and no other property was damaged. I always drove fox body 5.0's in the winter and was lucky never to have any problems, even commuting from Moon into downtown Pittsburgh every day. But the main word there is LUCKY. I consider myself a much better than average driver - not so much at the track - but for regular / defensive / winter driving. BUT...when conditions are like this you take a risk driving cars like ours. In the snowy weather, they are not capable of climbing hills / turning / stopping / avoiding trouble like the 4wd/awd/fwd stuff out there. Too many folks out there not paying attention. Even in conditions like this I see all kinds of people chatting on their phones while driving. WTF?!?! Makes me very glad I have the old F150 4x4. Lock in the hubs, pull the lever into 4-high, and GO!!!

So hang in there and take it easy. I like the idea of a cheap winter beater - instead of doing mods on the stang this summer, maybe keep your eyes open for one - and by the fall maybe you'll find one you like and have the cash stashed to pick it up. Good luck.

When you got your car, you should have went into a parking lot with a decent amount of snow in it and just drive. Hit the breaks, accelerate around a turn, etc. just to see how it feels. A rwd v8 is different than a rwd v6. I am by no means accusing you of being a bad driver, just more experience in these conditions with that car and you probably wouldnt have hit that wall.

Sorry to hear man. It was just unfortunate. I have drove cars in the mountain before in the bad snow. It can be done. It may be slow but can be done. It was just a bad experience. I hope you get it fixed without to much hardship.

Honestly it had really nothing to do with the fact its a V8 or even a mustang. I hit a sheet of ice and lost all control. I was going 15-20 mph. It rained and the temp dropped suddenly and froze. Even the cops said it got really bad really quick.

I will look for a cheap cheap cheap beater I think.

I am tossing that idea around right now. The only thing damaged is the bumper cover and possiblely a crack in the headlight.

So, do I go stock, 03-04 Cobra or 99 Cobra with the stock 03 GT hood? I am thinking 99 Cobra, but I have read they are hard to find cheap.
