Drove to work today at 6am in 2wd. Didn't need 4wd. Cars spinning out infront of me. One guy hit his brakes, spun around and was facing me. I waved to him and exited. Hahahahahahaha
Its in bad shape, needs alot of work. I got a guy lined up to buy it when the weather gets better.

Well - i hope you guys aren't specifically calling the OP an idiot because he wrecked the car... it happens - happens to 4WD, AWD, FWD and RWD... I don't think there's anything in this story that points to the OP being an idiot.. it can happen to anyone, at any time without warning....

my rant was because i was driving my future father-in-law's car to the grocery store and people seem to think that slowing down to 5mph is the best way to achieving climbing a hill with tons of snow/slush/ice on it.... it makes me furious!!!

And personally, winter weather driving is exactly what i'd use a mustang for... if I need a POS beater to get me around in the winter - i think a mustang fits the bill quite well! ;) Luckily i ride the bus to work, so it keeps me from having to own one!

Tires play a big factor!!! My IS300 goes like a beast in the snow as long as I have the Blizacks on the back. I watched 4wd and awd vehicles struggle last night on my way home due to bad tires. One doosh in a ram passed me on camp horne rd then ended up in a ditch at the top of gass rd(North Hills) I politely beeped and waived as I passed him. Snow driving isn't all that hard its more about knowing your vehicle and having it prepared for the weather. Sucks that you wrecked but I'm sure you learned a lesson and will have it fixed in no time.

Thanks, there was nothing I could do. It rained all morning then froze suddendly hit ice and couldnt do anything. Luckly I was going slow anyway but the damage is done, could have been alot worse. I am not going to start anything, but I guess alot of guys on here are better drivers than me and can have 100% control on a sheet of ice.

I was rear ended by another "driver" on the parkway east this morning.

He/She just slid off the road and rear ended a fully marked car with the lights on.

Knocked me outta my seat while I was writing up an abondoned vehicle.

    Anyway,

That abandoned vehicle had 1/32" left on the front "all season tires".

As did 75% off all the cars left out on the highway.

OP, you have Winter tires on the Mustang ?

Did you get hurt due to the hit?

I heard that cars were abondoned everywhere on the radio this morning going to work.

I must say the North Stabane officer that responded was very helpfull to me and the home owner explaining to us on what to do. He said that the calls like mine kept coming in and most likely wouldnt stop, this was right when it started around 5.

I have the tires that came with the car when I bought it in November. Goodyear all season tires. With the sheet of black ice nothing could have grabbed on that. Even the officers had a hard time in their SUVs getting to us and almost got nailed by a sliding car.

Through several posts I've came to the conclusion that you're a police officer. Are you a state or city cop? I know a few guys that are state officers at various barracks.

My GF made it home from Cranberry in her Mustang with no problems last night. She has 4 Blizzak tires and about 200lbs of salt in the trunk ... thanks to me!

With All Seasons the Crown Vics aren't worth shit it the snow.

With snow tires on them they are tanks.

Besides the driver, tires are everything.

I still can't understand why people that live around here don't have snow tires. I really just wish people that don't would just stay home when the snow starts coming down. Can't even begin to add up all the idiots I have passed driving 10 mph. I know they are pricey, but even my 225/40r18's (nothing smaller fits over the front brakes for reasonable $$$ anyway) were only 109 a piece.

All season tires = junk. I have to daily my one mustang this year (unfortunately) but I put 200 pounds of sand in the trunk along with studded snow tires on the back. It does pretty good really.

I really don't think it's worth it or necessary to buy winter tires, depending on what kind of car you drive. In my 2010 CC (FWD turbo 4cyl) I haven't had any problems this winter or last winter. I live in Plum (very hilly) and I don't even have all season tires, they are "performance summer" tires. I've still never been stuck, even driving 30 miles to work in Sewickley during that storm last year. Plus the roads are only completely covered in snow like 3 or 4 times out of the year.

I'm definitely not spending $600+ to have snow tires that I would only "need" a few days out of the year.
