.... By law the insurance company can not cut the check directly to you since the bank really owns the car. I had to do the same exercise last year

. Now you do have the right to take the car to any body shop.

My insurance company wrote the check to me when my bike got hit and the title is held by the bank... Idk why but that's what happened. haha was that wrong of them to do? Any way, good luck with the repairs!

I have had 5 checks directly written to me, and the bank owned all of the cars. Just sayin...

I know someone who owns a shop few yrs ago the check came to you now most ins companys send it to shop or to owner of car and shop so has to be endorsed by both just what he told me 20 mins ago

Had a check endorsed directly to me 11 months ago. I don't own the car. Insurance company said the same thing, I said "no" to the shop getting check. Voila, check written to me.
