    Steering rack help

I just put lowering springs, swaybars, CC plates and Steeda bumpsteer tie rod ends on my Cobra. After I got the car on the ground I turned the key to on (not running) and quickly worked the steering wheel back and forth and I could hear and feel a clunk in the front end.

I had a friend stop and work the wheel while I tried to figure out where it was comming from. It seems to be comming from the drivers side of the rack where the inner tie rod screws into the piece that slides through the rack. I can take a screwdriver and move that piece up and down a little bit.... I'm going to assume thats not normal. I haven't taken the boot off the other side to see if it does it on that end.

The car has 30,014 miles on, I would have thought the rack should have lasted 4 times that many miles.

just a guess, you UNscrewed the tierod while putting on your bumpsteer kit ?? which btw, should be parallel with the A-arm at load.. ;)

These cars are notorious for bad racks. Its probably nothing you did, just found it by chance.

Prob just need a new inner tierod. I'm sure it has play in it when you shake back and forth at the tire. They are simple to change. Like stated before. Prob just unscrewed the inner when installing the bumpsteer. Use loctite when installing a new one.

No play in the inner tie-rod... it will turn forever without unscrewing from the rack (ball and socket end) the slop is clearly in the section that the inner tie-rod screws into.
