    Accellerator stuck

My gas pedal stuck today on my Cobra. Anyone had this problem before. I took my Cobra to run a couple arrends today and when I stepped on the gas the car lonched and went to the rev limiter and scared the Hell out of me. Thank goddness I had the sense to put the clutch in and put it in neutral. No, I didn't crash. Any idea's on why?

its typical on 03 cobra's. there was even a recall or safety fix if memory serves me correct.

the carpet or something cause it. dont remember the exact cause

There is a recall for it. The dealer will install a metal plate over the carpet to keep it from getting caught on the gas pedal.

yea i remember when that recall came out... that'd be quite a scary situation, no matter what car your in... I actually had the accelerator stick on my KTM once and it scared the piss outta me... Only thing you can do is grab the clutch...

The recall was allready done. I called my local ford dealer and gave them my V.I.N and they said it was done. I looked to see and there is allready a plate there. Now what?

Did the floor mat get caught under it?

It may have but I don't believe so. I have had these same cheap rubber mats in several of my cars (to protect the good mats) and it has never happened before. I guess I will have to be careful

Been there done that... sucks but luckily mine never did it in traffic. one time at the zeli drags and bent two exhaust valves, and once a long time ago in the middle of nowhere.... figured it out to be the edge of the floormat....

an old boss of mine died about 7 years ago when his throttle stuck by Hoss's on rt 8 and he swerved into the guardrail instead of hitting the traffic in front of him........

I cut the carpet completely away from my pedal. You pretty much have to stick your head up under the dash to see it, so I don't care what it looks like. It happend to me 4 or 5 times, I usualy just put it in a higher gear and hit the brakes till I could kick it loose with my foot.

Yeah, as soon as I thought I had it fixed it would happen again, so eventually I got fed up and just cut away all the carpet around the pedal. It was also keeping me from going completely wide open throttle sometimes, and we can't have that

It's happened to me in my 93 at PRP going through the traps. I never did figure out *exactly* why. Somethin' tells me I was trying to push the go pedal through the firewall:o

Call the dealer and have the recall done. They install a plate blocking the carpet from getting the pedal stuck to the floor.

The first thing to do with a stuck pedal is to cut the motor off and then grab the clutch and the brake, been there,,,,,,
