12.0 1/4 mile with 600hp? That would be pathetic.
Good thing people around here know what drag radials are.

he's into that, that spiritual stuff. <><
True, but never going to happen in a car in this price range/size.
I think they're doing the best they can with the move to Al block and taking 120# out of the car.
I'll take it at its current weight no complaining, and just add a smaller pulley, its like losing 200# ;)

True but until they redesign the chassis and make it smaller this is as good as it gets.
If you really want less weight, it just takes some modding. I think Ford made the starting point a great value with big potential.

I agree with you, I hope they do.
I still don't think I'd want it smaller than your car, I felt pretty comfortable in my '04, I think smaller than that might start to go in the wrong direction.

Just saw this...

Look at the source though... its Car and Ricer oops I mean Driver... the magazine that's been nutting over anything Japanese for the past 15 years (at least). They need to leave room in their performance guesses so that something from Japan can beat it.
Plus their 5-way sport compact "performance shootout" back in 2005 proved to me without a doubt that when it comes to reviewing and evaluating performance cars, they don't know their a$$ from a hole in the ground.
I'd believe that article over anything from Car and Ricer any day.
I honestly always thought C+D was pretty fair. I bought my SRT4 because of them (they ranted and raved over it performance-wise) and my Cobalt (same). They love the new 5.0, they loved the 03-04 Cobra, and they gave the '11 GT500 high marks (the first year it deserved it IMO). I remember that article, what was the problem? The comparisons unfortunately have to take into account something other than performance, I have always read past the consistency of how the turn signal stalk moves and read what they thought of the performance of the cars reviewed. They talked about how the SRT4 ACR (In the test I imagine you are referring to) was leaps and bounds above anything else in the test performance wise, but the buying public unfortunately cares about other things sometimes. My Cobalt stomped the others in a test they did in '08 handling wise, but it got third (I think). I understand, because off the track, it is a POS.
Hell, just recently in the Lightning Lap test they were remarking on how the V6 mustang beat the STi on track.
