    engine questions

    hi as some of you my know by my other post i got a 91 gt 5.0 with aod i'm looking at a 5.0 out of a 89 5 speed car now my question is what all will i need to change on the 89 engine to work in my car i know i'll have to change the back engine plate and flywheel from my 91 engine since it's an auto not sure what else though ( just putting this engine in while i build my original )

    take out the pilot bearing on the back of the crankshaft. you dont need it for the auto. if you try to tighten the auto trans to the block with the pilot bearing still in the crank, you'll crack the bellhousing (happened to my dad a few years ago)

    thanks i completely forgot about the pilot bearing i've been out of the game for to long. Also were there any other differences internally with a 5 speed engine Compared to the cars that came with automatics. I wasn't sure if they came with different cams pistons etc

    I'm looking for a complete engine with everything still on it let me know when you want to part with the temp engine.

    well i missed out on it i called this morning about it and some guy was on his way to buy it that really screws my plans up cause i'm not really sure how much it's going to cost me to get my block cleaned and honed at a machine shop plus new rings, rod and main bearings and if it needs bored new pistons i got almost 2k saved as of now but wanted to buy gt40p heads and intake to throw on it but not sure what the machine works going to run me
