i have run 3.5's for 16 years on 13 different cars.you will be fine. Just dont expect to take turns like you have a corvette.
88 GT...and some boost
I run them too and have never had any problems.
89 Vert, Stock block, H/C/I , DIY turbo kit MPT70 , Tweecer RT, C4 trans. 17 lbs boost. 3400#s - 10.3 @ 136 mph.
Dyno Jet - 542 RWHP / 545 RWTQ
I daily drive my Capri in the summer with 15 x 3.5's with 165/80/R15 tires and no sway bar ... as long as you drive the car like it's got 15 x 3.5 wheels with narrow tires on the front, it should be fine.
That said - on a new edge car that I took to the track occasionally ... I might be inclined to use a 5" wheel as more of a street wheel. Those cars can tolerate more wheel up front for the look and you would have more tire for better braking and handling.
FWIW, my 3.5 ProStars was made before they marked them this way. The problems with them came from heavy cars on the street trying to handle like road racers.
