Cool, but you originally said on stock tires. Since when were drag radials "stock" on a Z06?

He probably did what I did. Spent about 6 seconds on youtube searching for one of the multiple vids of stock Z06s running easy 10s. I tried to find one with stock tires, but didn't care to spend enough time to find one.

Bottom line. Boss is a damn impressive car. But is it as fast as a C6 Z06? Hell no. MT said it was quicker around Laguna Seca than a Z06, and I have a very hard time believing that considering Car+Driver ran a Z06 15 seconds a lap faster at VIR than the standard GT. The Boss is most definitely quicker around a road course than a GT, but nowhere even near approaching 15 seconds a lap at VIR.

The C6 Z06 has been 10.98s at 128.9 with a 1.7 60' at MIR. Jamie Furman did it. Next fastest is Ranger with a 11.025 @ 127.25 with a 1.70 60' on the stock tires

    Fastest DR time is Ranger with a 10.744 @ 129.50 with a 1.59 60' and next in line is a 10.814 128.36 1.59 at Atco..

    12.30s is far from a 11.02 run..

Cut the Boss a break fellas...it is giving up 120+ cubes to the Z06. Pretty fantastic times from a N/A 5.0 if you ask me.

It's not so much the cubes as it is the pounds. Ford needs to put the Mustang on a diet.

While it sure would be nice for the Boss ( about 3600 lbs ) to have a curb weight close to the 3150 lb Z06, that just isn't realistic, considering the technology and materials used to build the Z06 platform, which is ( I think ) totally different than the standard vette platform. Don't forget - the base Boss stickers for about $36k, while the base Z06 stickers for $75k - more than double the cost of the Boss. I think that Ford is continuing to offer by far the most bang for the buck here. Now...if they'd make an all-aluminum 427 cube version of the 32valve TiVct, those extra pounds might not be an issue...

Unfortunatly you will pay Z06 numbers to get a Boss! Expect to see very large ADM (Additional Dealer Markup) on these limited production bad boys .....

I agree there will be additional dealer mark-up on the cars, It will happen. (Especially the Laguna Seca ED.) Bottom line is this, IMO the Z06 is a very, very nice machine. but with a 70k price tag. Yes, the mustang is heavy. I can really feel the weight of my S197 over the Cobra and the several fox's I've had. It is a night & day difference. However, we buy the mustang because it is a Mustang and it's a brand we love. A car we love to modify and that it's for the most part affordable. Maybe not as affordable as it used to be. But, compared to the other options like the Z06 it is affordable to most people. I will be looking for one in a year or two myself as my responsibilities prohibit the purchase right now. But I feel ford has been doing a fine job with the mustang and as a company as of late. I say kudos to the new Boss

Wow! Some of you guys are quick to jump on the Z06 bandwagon. I hope you defend the Mustang (beings most of you drive them)on the GM sites as much as you do the defend Vettes on a Mustang site. I'll make sure next time I check my facts before I post. Jeezus some of you guys are phuckin relentless. LOL

I defend the Mustang all the time, I absolutely love the car. Part of my internet demeanor is due to me being Mustang-less (or RWD car-less) at the present time. I have to drive a Cobalt, and take one to the track. Do you realize how hard it is to face my family?

But seriously, I just don't understand the comparison in the first place to the Z06. Maybe it is something Mustang guys feel the need to do to make themselves feel better? The sad fact is the 3100 pound Z06 is going to continue to murder the Mustang until Ford finds a way to get about 500 pounds out of the car and WAY more tire under it. And lower the CG about 8 inches.

X2 the z06 really shouldnt be compared to any mustang until they start making them 2 seat sports cars.... Which is never going to happen. Compare it to the other pony cars, like the camaro, charger, challenger, etc. They are its competition, not the z06. I dont see anyone that is looking to buy a z06 cross shopping with a mustang gt.

Kev you know I love ya..

I also agree with mark and steve. You can't compare ANY of the mustangs to the z06 besides the gt500.

The better comparison for the boss 302 is the new camaro zl1

And I would take a new mustang gt 5.0 over the new camaro any day of the week, but will take a z06 over all of them.
