    Tire question

I have came across a super cheap set of 16" wheels that I want to use for drag radials. When I say cheap I mean free. I have 2 options....16x8 and 16x9. Which wheel would be best for some drag radial? I would love to try some ET streets or maybe even ET radials....what are your guys suggestions?

Wider is better. I would go with the 9".

If you want to keep your stock 26" diameter and run a MT radial, the only size available is a 255/50/16 which would work best on the 16x8. Radial tire choices become very limited with 16's.

I would look into the MT ET streets or the Hoosier Quick Time Pros. Both of those would work well

If you go with a bias ply, a 26x10.50x16 should fit either of those wheels pretty well

    Yeah those should work well.
I'd personally go with the 9" wheels if its the same price and will fit.
Bias-ply MT ET Street, Hoosier QT Pro probably the best bet but not too familar with the 16" options.

Cool, original ET streets or Hoosier QTPs is what I'd use.

As much as I personally like Hoosier tires (both slicks and Quick Time Pro's), I would really shy away from them for a FLD type application. They can be rather sensitive to burn out procedure and have some quirks. Those quirks can be managed quite well on a drag strip and hook like crazy but I suspect the ET Streets are more forgiving (but havent used anything from MT in several years).

LOL, well I might be wrong on the ET Streets, I havent had a set in I think five or six years (although I will likely try ET Drags when my hoosier slicks are worn out).

Like I said, nothing at all wrong with Hoosier tires, it's just that they like things a certain way and I hate to see someone think it's the tire. Add in a stick shift car and they are even more quirky ... Ed and I both went through the learning process on them for sure.

You remember my buddy Dale (TR7), he was struggling with QTP's at Columbus a couple of years ago saying all they did was spin ... I went through the process with him, next pass he hit it right on, and almost smacked his face off the steering wheel on the next hit because it hooked so hard and bogged :D (not enough RPM ).

Sometime this year we might see if the QTP's work at a FLD type race. Wanting to go to Sunset with my junk and give it a go myself.
