MT ET Streets radials vs ET Street II

Hello, need some help. The kind folks at SLP are installing my Kenne Bell so hoping to be just under 600hp. I ordered up some 10.5 inch Rims with what I thought was going to be MT ET Street Radials (315/35/17) from American Muscle. Well it appears as though they put the MT ET Street II 's on it. Does anyone have any experience with these. Will they work well with the HP I will be making or should I send them back?

In that size you are stuck with ET Street II.

    List of sizes: http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/s...ETStreetRadial

I guess for your 17" rim your only choice would be 275/40/17 ET Streets.

I never used the ET street IIs but my understanding is that they are just the lower profile version of their regular et street radials. Seems like a good bit of people run them though if you look around.

Are you looking for a tire that dead hooks on the strip or a tire that just puts the power down on the street or what? On a stick car IMO I'd just pick up a set of 16" rims and run a bias ply et street if I was just trying to hook on the track and then swap your street wheels back on to go home. But for a tire that does both clear weather street driving and also grabs at the strip, the ET street IIs probably work fine.

Thanks for your help man! I will mainly just be on the street, but I wanted something that hooked pretty well. My 555Rs worked good at 460hp for me, but I heard would be useless at 600hp. The ET II's seem to be similar to the 555R

If hooking is your goal, you want taller sidewalls.

Low profiles are mainly for rim fitment.

    truth

if you are stick shift i would go bias ply but if you wanna go fast with auto use radial.

The ET street radial II has the same compound as the ET street radial which I have, its a very soft compound and wont last long at all on the street. I have about 10 track passes and less than 200 street miles and they are down to the wear bars already. Using them on the street will really wear them out quik. I would use the Nitto for the street, unless you like buying tires frequently.

Ok, so I talked to American Muscle. They misprinted on their website. They do not even make the original ET Street Radials in 315's. So they said they would return them for no charge and was very professional about it. So my question to all of you is: what is the best dry weather drag radial for my 17 X 10.5 inch rims for hooking up on the street. I should be making around 600HP. I am not too worried about how well they wear.

How about the NT05R's in 315? or What size would I run if I went with the original ET Street Radials?

I have a set of 315-35-17 Hoosiers that when combined with 6000 rpm grip well enough to do this

The NT05R's are a good tire, but imo they won't hook better than the et street radials you currently have. I wouldn't worry too much about wear either since I managed to get about 1k street miles and over 100+ track/fld passes with my original et radials.

    Here's a grrreat comparison test I found between the NT05R's and the M/T DRII's!!

    http://www.superchevy.com/technical/...est/index.html

If you look on the second page the Nitto's barely beat out the M/T's! I've been leanin towards gettin the NT05R's but I'll buy the M/T DRII's off of u if you don't want to send them back, cause I've been lookin for a set for my 10 1/2" Bullitts I got! Shoot me a pm if you wanna work something out!?

The majority of those passes were with my Mustang so you are probably right

You have/had the best tires for what you want. The new Nitto NT05R are probably very close to both street hook and unfortunately wear. My brother has been 1.40s 60' on the ET Street II 305/35/18s so they will hook very well. However, with a stick and big low-end like you have, the bias-ply old-school type ET Street will probably work better at the track due to absorbing a clutch dump.

Don't forget about the bfg DR's. Also the M&H. Both are going to hook better than the nittos.
