Lookin 4 advice on puttin on aftermarket steering wheel

I went to put on a aftermarket steering wheel yesterday on my mustang and had a puller and everything. It has cruise control that does not work so I was gonna just eliminate and also tilt now I have a stock ford wheel and couldnt get the thing pulled off. Has anyone on here replaced thier stock 88 wheel for aftermarket one. If so did you have to use any special adapters or wheel.

Ya I had the bolt off from under the horn pad. It really didnt have anywhere for me to hook the puller to and get a good pull. The pic of the new install kit shows a treaded stem from the column and a nut that holds the wheel on mine is a bolt that treads into the center of the stem and the puller seemed like it wanted to tread into it. I thought that it should just act like a pivot point to push off not tread into. Does ford have there own style puller?

I use one of these style pullers,

There are 2 small bolt holes near the center that you use to anchor the puller.
