I'm proud of you Mark, that even thou you don't have a Ford product you still know that to put a GM motor in a Ford is just wrong.

If the SCCA rules didn't prohibit it, back when I had my notch I would've swapped an LS motor into without a second thought. Don't understand what the big deal is. I'm sure noone on here would be bothered by an M3 with an LS1 in it. Plus most of these cars were built before the (new 4 cam) 5.0 came out, so an all aluminum engine capable of 400+ rwhp easily and cheaply in a very compact package is a no-brainer. No offense to the 4 cam 4.6, but NA it is pretty much worthless and heavy on top of that.

I have no problem with mixing brands. Then again I'm not really all that brand loyal. I don't even mind a high hp import motor in a domestic every now and then

This will always be an interesting debate.
I wouldn't personally do it for as much power as you can make with a Ford motor, but I love the LSx engines and see why guys do it.
BTW, there is an Outlaw 10.5 racer with a '67-69 Camaro and a Procharged SBF---talk about pissing people off ;)

I always said the only thing GM makes I'd ever own are the Corvette and Cadillac, but I really might consider a G8 for my next beater

there is a c5 being built with a small block ford. can't find the thread. but thing about this mustang is called hot rodding. i wish the mod junk was affordable compared to the ls stuff. but no one really swaps them into anything(and for good reason too)

    Here we go again

As I said many a time before. I don't have a problem with GM, I have 2 of them and love them both. I just don't feel the two should be mixed. But that's just me. If you want to call me "Butt Hurt" then be my guest.

    x2... $3000 for an LS dropout vs. $8000 for a 4.6 4v...

    For a budget yes.
But not everyone is on a super tight budget and OVERALL the mod motor has more potential with stock parts......see John Milhovetz.

    THIS........

It depends what your end hp goal is to REALLY determine which route is cheaper.

03-04 engines can handle 1k+ hp in STOCK form....can LS engines do that for the same money? (3-4k complete)

You need to define the word STOCK.

it wouldn't be stock, but for 3-4K, yes they can... new pistons and rods is all you need... you can pick up an LSx motor for pretty cheap, and new pistons and rods would run you 1,200-1,400 give or take a few $... plus assembly if you don't do it yourself...

i built the MOTOR in my T/A for very cheap, and its currently holding up to just short of 1000 RWHP with lots of use....
