Good advice . If he just wants a Alternator go to Ohio Generator. For a battery i would recommend a gel cell type red top Optimum. like you said go see Rich Malstof at Auto Illusion -- or Ron Short.

Well with everything you said how much do you think a system like that would run me? Like price wise

Know how you can get 20% more power for a lot less money? Sundown SAX-1200d. Are you just stuck on JL? I'd certainly look elsewhere was was mentioned.

Agreed on both accounts. An equal cost Sundown will murder the JL.

They make stores a lot of money. That's all they do, they have a high margin on them. A 1 farad cap is capable of storing 4 amps of current for 3 seconds. That's not even enough to power your CD player, so how is that going to do anything to your amp?

Yes, you can go wrong. It's mediocre product at a premium price. They have problems with lead snaps, frames bending, not exceptional thermal handling, and crap soft parts. The quality is beaten all the time.

    Agreed.

Small amp no issue -- waste of money . Big amp -1000 watts good idea.
There are capacitors found in nearly all electronics for that reason. So, even a Kia has them, as well as the cheapest of car audio equipment. They smooth out power when it's noisy, and when you have enough storage to power the device behind it. If you don't have sufficient capacitance, your voltage can actually be LOWER because you now have to recharge the cap before you can power your device. So, if you wanna fork out $400 for 100 farads, that would do something for your 1000 watt amp. At that point you may as well spend less and get a top quality battery and be able to support 3000 watts.

Have they been unbeatable because you've never tried anything else? W6's are dual 4's, so you need 2 ohm power, which isn't common. So in that case you'd be looking at an SAX-1200d which is rated for 1 ohm, but would do the power at 2 ohms. A W7 is 3 ohms, so you're in even worse shape without buying a JL amp (funny how that works, eh?). You could spend WAY less and get a better result going with ALL Sundown.

You can get a SA12 for $195 and a SAX-1200d for $395, both with 2 year warranties. If you really wanted to step it up, you could keep the same amp and go to a Zv2 12 for $425. All prices are shipped from http://www.sundownonly.com and you can find more info on http://www.sundownaudio.com

So it would be close to the same price as the jl if I got the better sub. I really wish I could compare the two in person that would help so Much

There are forums all over the place that will tell you the Sundown is far superior. Even youtube has people posting videos. The only downside is the $425 Sundown sub is around 60 lbs of subwoofer. It's rated for 1500 RMS, 1200 would do alright, but if you ever want to put 2500 on it you can do that too. That's what I'm doing with mine.

JL, JBL, kicker, audiobahn are all good brands. I personally run 2-12" audiobahn flame Q's and 2-15" in my mustang. I run Pyle amps, I found them to be the best. However many people i know like the rockford fosgate amps and subs.

You do realize that Audiobahn was out of business for the last 3 years up till recently when they came back, right? When you go out of business selling cheap stuff, it's because you had to warranty so much of it. Pyle is also just plain cheap. Reliability is hit or miss, and it's a pretty safe guarantee they won't do rated power.

I've have my 15's for 8 years not a single problem, and i've also have my apms for 3. I still have 2 1000watt amps i'm not using. Never hade any trouble with any of thoes products. You are correct that they don't list peak power on pyle amps. Do the math and actually look and its not a problem.

In my old car I had a jl 12w3 in a stealth box with a Kenwood 1000 Watt amp and it just didn't satisfy me. I want something bigger and better

Know what's changed on those subs in 8 years? Nothing. It's old technology that wasn't that great to begin with. Speakers are stupid, they only do what the owner tells them. If you don't take them out of their limits, you won't have a problem. Perhaps you haven't had a problem because your amps don't do any power? Again, I said hit or miss reliability. What do you mean they don't list peak power? That's ALL they list, and peak power is a BS number. If you actually tested one of your amps, you'd find I'm right. Pyle amps typically do around 70% of rated RMS power and 35% of peak power.

That doesn't surprise me at all. The entry level Sundown is cheaper than a W3 and murders it.

So because of how people choose to install them, that makes it an SPL speaker? The appearance of the installation has NOTHING to do with the quality of the driver. I'd put my single 8 against anything JL, with video to back it up on youtube.

But, since you seem to think seeing wires = SPL speakers that don't sound good. Check out this install I just finished.

Oh no, everybodies sound quality just went up!

Oh crap, it just went up again! It's a shame, because that has entry level Sundown subs doing 160's and shatters windshields.

Perhaps you don't see them because Sundown doesn't make any? They have an 8" and 10" midrange driver coming out next week but that's it right now. 6.5" components are currently in development, a 5.25" will probably appear at the same time.
