    Starter going bad?

Yesterday I was drivin the car all day.
My 96 cobra also just had the longtubes put in.

Now for a few hours it wouldnt start all it would do is (CLICK)
I checked the battery and clean the turmels. That wasnt it.

hours later I go to park the car for the night and for the heck of it I tryed to start it.. AND YES IT FIRED UP!! Im like what the heck. SO if my starter going bad? Now the question is are them long tubes going to be in the way for that starter coming out?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

    Please help

Did they pull the starter for the header install? If so, check all the connections - maybe something is loose. Battery is probably ok since the car started up later.

If the starter connections check out ok, it is possible that the headers are cooking the starter - you might consider insulating either the starter itself or wrapping the headers near the starter.

I will probley wrap a new starter with heat shild.
I will check wires out on it and see if that could be if so then I will be buying a new starter. Now will my BBK long tubes be in the way of that starter coming out so I can put a new one in if need be?

I wrapped my starer at the heat is terrific coming from the headers. I also wrapped all the lines and cables that came close to the headers . You can buy wrap pretty cheap or buy a kit for the starter with stainless tywraps. Auto Illusions in moon has it in their shop too.

Yes your starter is getting baked.....try what these guys suggested. My buddy had to change brands in LT's to cure this problem.

    Okay thanks guys.
I bought a new starter so It will be fun geting that top bolt out on the starter.
Just a bummer that it went out because of all this rain I really dont have the chance to get it done anytime soon.. Im going to have to hunt some of that heat shild wrap for the starter so it don't cook the new one..
