    Newest Whipple Cobra in Pitt

I have owned my car since 2007. Up until 2 weeks ago it was a pullied Eaton (non-ported) with all supporting mods. Best E.T. was an 11.85 @ 121.3mph on Nitto 555Rs. MY friend and I both installed Whipple 2.3s, Mafias, 63lb injectors, BAP (he went the twin GT pumps route). We did all of the work ourselves over the course of about 5 weekends. Dynoed tuned them at DGR in Dillsburg, PA and I put down 601whp on 3" pulley and 93 octane, and 641whp on 2.75" pulley and 100 octane. Buddy's car did about 1% less respectively.

Hit PRP opening day (against my better judgement) to attempt to break my half shafts but could only spin through 1st and 2nd (track is terrible). Best I could pull off due to letting off in first and second gear both was a 12.1 @ 129mph (93 octane tune). I was using 315 Toyo Proxes.

Who runs MT ET Streets? I'm picking up two 16" Pony wheels and plan on putting 28" slicks on them. Anyone running this setup? How does the car handle up top with the radial tires on the front?

I'm also picking up Level 5 half-shafts and the complete IRS Bushing kit. Hopefully that will put me in the mid 10's.

Ohh you and your friend were the two whipple cobras in front of me! Both looked great! The track was terrible that day i agree. I couldnt hook at all either, spinning to 2.2 sec 60s. The 16" wheels clear the brakes in the back?

Indeed, I had exact setup on mine. And buy the halfshafts if you want, but leave the stockers alone. Going to a softer tire (drag radial or slick) will soften the blow to the halfshafts. You'll be REAL surprised how long the stockers will last. I'm assuming the clutch isn't stock? And to boot, it's always a good thing to have a breaking point some where in the car, you don't want everything to be bullitproof!

Enjoy the new found power, I know when I went to the kenne bell it was night and day!!

Leave the stock half shafts alone. If you use the correct soft tire and do not leave on the limiter you will be fine. It's a learning curve and the first mod once you add all that power needs to be the driver mod. 10 second power does not equal 10 second ets without the proper driving technique. Street tires have zero business under a 600+ RWHP car at the track. I used to run 26x11.50-17 ET Streets on the stock Cobra wheels on my old Whipple Cobra. I ended up going 10.94@133.65 on a 3k launch fairly easily. Short time was 1.61. Good luck and have fun!

I run MT ET Streets 26x10.50LTx16 on waffles on an '03 Cobra. They drive fine as long as you air them up and realize your driving on tires that weren't meant to take bends fast.

On a 457rwhp/501rwtq Cobra I went 1.56 60ft on those tires bone stock IRS. Dumping the clutch at 6200rpm, no brace or anything. Soft sidewall FTW.

I planned on driving on DRs to the track and swapping the slicks out there. I was more concerned with how the car swayed at 130mph at the track with radial 17" tires on the front.

Mine did sway a bit but it was not scary by any means.

I hated running bias ply tires on the rear of my Mach 1 with radials up front. It swayed too much at the top end for my comfort.
Went with skinnies and never looked back.
If you're going to fork over the $ for a Whipple cough up a bit more for some proper drag wheels and tires.
