    Subwoofer Install

Has anyone on here installed subwoofers to there factory 05+ radio? A buddy of mine was saying that with a stock radio, you have to buy some sort of adapter..just wondering what all is required for the install, thanks.

If you're trying to run the OEM sub from the Shaker 500 it will not work. The HU dosen't have the sub driver. You can, however, run several aftermarket set-up, i.e., Bazooka Tube, with a power..., ground..., and pulling signals from the rear deck speakers.

Im trying to connect an aftermarket JL Audio sub and amp to the shaker 500 radio. What i'm not sure about is whether there are input/output ports in the back of the radio to connect the speaker wires to

Use a LC2 off the rear deck speakers.

That is what I am in the process of doing with mine.

I have saw several different write-ups on different forums if you google it you might find some of them. I have the SHAKER 1000 and have only changed the head unit with a Kenwood Nav set up still have stock amps and speakers though. Here's something that might help.

this is what i used. it has a few more features than the PAC adapters. you just run a power and ground to it along with some speaker wires . it will sense the current in the wires when you turn the stereo on and turn itself and the amp on.

That would work but the Audio Control piece is a MUCH better option. I can get you whichever you need :)

Ok so let me get this straight. You take the speaker wire off of one of the rear speakers and run it into a connector that can turn 1 wire into 2. Then you re-apply 1 of the 2 speaker wires back into the factory speaker and then run the other one into that LC2i audiocontroller. That, along with a power wire to the battery and a ground, will allow you to keep all the factory speakers working and sounding just the same as they did originally and will power the amp to run the subwoofer??

you tap/splice into the both rear speakers. both pos and neg from the left and the right and run them to your inputs on the lc2i. i ran a + wire from my amp wiring to the lc2i and grounded it at same location as amp. the n just ran the remote wire from lc2i to the amp. thats pretty basic. 7 wires total not counting the rca cables

do the factory speakers still sound the same after splicing into them, because now your using the current that was powering the speakers to also power the lc2i? and since i'm only using 1 sub, do i still need to splice into both rear speakers?
