1996 SVT Cobra

Does anyone think the asking price for this car is to high? $ 14,700.

That price sounds way to high. Theres a green 99 cobra right by my house @ a small used car lot. Think it has 32xxx miles and they're askin like 12k.

What gives? If they get 14,700 for that than I should get 13,800 for my GT. It has less miles and is 5 years newer. Its probably just as quick also.

way too high people see cobra and think they are worth way too much esp them years its not like they were anything special like a terminator

Cobra's will always be worth more than GT's if similar in year and shape but he's asking way to much for that. Keep looking as there are plenty of 98-01's out there for the right price if your set on a cobra. If you interested in a 01 Cobra in great shape with a 03 cobra longblock shoot me a pm and I'll give you the number.

Yep, price seems about $2-3K too high. The dealer probably owns it for about $8K.

my one friend likes it though we looked at it and we're going to see if they'll come down on the price plus hes going to trade his truck in. I was wondering if these cars engines were any good, I've read in mustang traders that had these for sale and there were some that said 50,000 miles, new motor just installed.

If it's the 4 valve it can be very mod freindly.

One thing with the cobra's, is if they are not well maintained and the oil not changed they can spin a bearing. Alot of the engines we rebuilt was due to this. One thing to also check on 96-98 cobra's is the secondary runner controls. Alot of times the butterflies will stick in the intake manifold or the runner controll box will burn out or even the one of the two cables that go to each head will snap. If it does it will kill power on them big time. One other thing is Cobra's need gears. So if he does get it add some 4.10's or 4.30's and it will really wake the car up!!

Yes the IIRC(I think) plates. It actually opens the runner to the second intake valve above 3500 rpm!

I test drove a Mach 1 when they first came out. I was driving my 98 GT at the time and was not impressed at all. You have to remember your 2v is a torquier motor and the 4v is a rever. Thats why a stock cobra/mach will feel slower!
