    Exclamation Tranny removal - help

Couldn't find anything by searching but I'll ask anyway. So I've read on other forums that the best way to remove the tranny is to remove it from the bell housing then remove the bell housing. How the hell do you get the two top bolts out of the tranny? They are squeezed between two fins. I got the 15mm wrench on one of them and moved it about a mm, now I can't get the wrench on the bolt to move it anymore!

BTW, tranny removal is for the main seal replacement .

I usually use a flex socket and long extention. A chrome flex socket will give you more clearance than an impact flex also.

Will that swivel socket be able to break the bolts loose without breaking?

I use two wobble extensions rather than a swivel, but the point is you need to flex the drive away a bit to get at them. Sometimes those bolts will be corroded into the aluminum bell the first time they come out so you are better to pull the assembly, remove the bolts and then put it together separate. It's all about testing you patience ;)

I have been able to get to the top bolts without swivels on occasion, but seeing as you moved the top bolts already (even a little bit), I doubt you would have any problems busting them loose with a swivel. Just buy a couple because they will break eventually.

I'd try and see if you can get a long box end wrench on them from the top to atleast break them free. I hate using swivels and long extensions on those top two bolts. Knuckle busting action always.

BTW, how many tranny bolts are there? 4 or 6? I didn't really check the top so I figured I'd ask before the evenings events start.
