    Mach 1 or 99/01 Cobra

Im looking to sell my GT this winter and buy either a mach 1 or 99/01 cobra after i get back from military training. WHich puts out more power stock (real power) ? which can get more gain out of bolt ons etc.. i know the engines are basically identical tho. Just looking for some opinions!!
my fav might have to be a mach1 wth an 03 cobra front bumper :)

You might want to look up some stock dyno pulls (not every dyno is the same though) I know the Machs are under rated by ford but, I am unsure by how much. The Machs also seem to be holding their value more than the 99/01s and you can get one in Azure Blue!

i also tend to see mach 1's in better shape than cobras for some reason. are they more rare than cobra's? maybe its due to the fact that mach 1's were a two year only deal

Would an 03 or 04 Cobra be within your price range? They are a good bang for your buck, esp if you are wanting to do some modifying.

Mach1 has better cams and 03-04 cobra heads. Best stock combo by far. I forget what heads the 99-01 cobras have but they do not flow as much as the mach1. If I remember correctly the mach1 was under rated and put 310ish whp to the ground stock. I think the 99 cobra was high 290s.

Mach1 manual trans are hard to come by! But then again any clean 99-01 cobra or Mach 1 is hard to find. Especially with low miles!!

All the 4v's heads had their ups and downs. All in personal preference or for ultimate goal on what your building!

The big difference between mach 1 heads and earlier C heads are the exhaust ports they are bigger in the mach and 03/04 cobra. The 99/01 cams are supposed to be the most aggressive cams out of the C heads, the 96-98 cobra is supposed to be more aggressive yet. If you get a 99 or some 01s have a teksid block.

Comes down to styling and what you want to do with the car.
Residual value should be good for both.
Having had an '01 Cobra, I would personally not consider a '99.
If you want to modify, the power potential is about the same; stock I'd give edge to Mach 1.
If you want to drag race, Mach 1; road race and street cruising Cobra.
    Both are great choices.

I'm pretty sure the Mach's had 320 horses at the flywheel. If mods are in your future, you can get a Mach cheaper than an '03 - '04 Cobra, and use the extra cash toward a nice Kenne Bell.

I do plan to do full bolt ons for the mach 1 or cobra, whichever i choose. (except cams, ive heard the cams in both are plenty good enough for the 4.6) An 03/04 cobra would be great, but its kinda out of my price range. Im only 19, only reason i can afford a mustang with all these bolt on is the fact i have a job and the military pays for college. thanks for all the imput so far guys! really appreciate it!

Either one of those can support an Eaton swap from someone who goes to a Kenne Bell on their 03/04. Also quite a bit cheaper than a KB.

If it looks good, you'll see it. If it sounds good, you'll hear it. If it's marketed right, you'll buy it. But if it's real, you'll feel it. IG: @donuttrump

For me the decission would be if I was ever going to supercharge it ... Cobra, if it was going to be a bolt on car, Mach 1 ... Can't screw with that hood :D

Mach 1. Solid rear is better for everything. IRS is junk for road race type stuff too.
