new guy from pgh area

hi all
newbie here from the area with a 98gt laser red hardtop coupe with 236k.
Currently undergoing major overhaul, replacing engine, auto trans going in for a teardown and some performance upgrades.
some of the things done to car are.
1.5 lowering springs
drilled and slotted rotors
mach 1 leather seats
mach 1 steering wheel
oil pressure, water temp, wideband 02 gauges.
lots of new parts coming, off road h pipe. shorty headers, catback system.
overall its been a excellent car but as the saying goes nothing lasts forever.
cant wait til shes back on the road

as far as the engine going in nothing real special, just a stock motor from a 98 lincoln towncar with 72 thousand miles.
to be honest really unsure what to do about a motor, been thinking i should just have my bottom end rebuilt and some pi heads.
picked my transmission up friday, had a shift kit, new seals, bearings, bushings, clutches, kevlar overdrive band, and accumulators put in as well as a new pump.
im not looking to build a powerhouse engine, but the npi motor ran out of breath so easy.
suggestions welcome.

thats what else i wanted to ask, my rear end was making a noise and i had it checked out, and there is some slop in the spider gears, not much but the pin the runs up through the center of the carrier has play in it.
should i have that fixed before i start driving it? cause im sure with the transmission shifting harder its most likely gonna put a beating on the rear end

The pi heads will wake it up nicely and I would definately fix the rear end while your at it. It's a good time to upgrade the gear set if you want to also.
