    Stick Shift Carange

I had a little oh..... incident last Saturday night ... Was in the semi final round at PRP, car launched and made a little off squirm ... not so unusualy for my car to to that at times, but this was more odd ... pulled 2nd gear and the car wanted to swap ends.

Broke the bolt for the lower control arm ... The only thing that kept it from coming out was the bolt head hitting my muffler ...

It also let the housing move enough to smack my passenger side shock and dent the tube enough the piston is stuck and let all the oil out of it.

It's all fixed now, we welded everything again, added some support ... raced the car today and it hooked hard (1.60 60's) and most important went straight. New arms have greasable front bushings and QA1 heims on the housing side. Need to inspect them more often for sure.

We was over them soup to nuts. The torque box on this side was a little frigged up ... We was able to push it back into place with a porta power, reweld everything, and made plates to back up all the holes where the bolts pass through, then added additional support.

I will say, the "battle box" re enforcements on the outside mostly saved everything by keeping that hole in tact and in place, gave us a point to work from to fix everything else. The hole on the frame rail side was pretty beat up.

The good news is that both lower arms are the set at the same length and the rear checked out square under the car ... I raced Saturday and it hooked and went straight so we definately got it back in the right place. Nw everything is beefed up and ready to go again :D

Yeah, it could have been VERY ugly. Lucky for sure.

The bolts that came out came from CHE and are not marked for grade. I am going to hardness test one of them here at work and try and estimate. The bolts are actually a Metric equivalent, and what went in are 12.9 spec

LOL, lots of hard launches on them over the years. This car makes a lot of passes, but I would be happy to not keep looking for weak links.

Those bolts weren't marked? I would throw those out without thinking twice for any high load use. Standard threads bolts unmarked are Grade2. Think all metric are marked even 8.8's
