Finally, I'm making progress again! DUW!

As most of you know I over-rev'd my engine in April 2005 at the SSOTN Spring Nationals at Cecil County Dragway and bent all of my exhaust valves. This was a result of a 3-2 shift which by my calculations sent the shortblock to around 8300rpms! OUCH! Anyway, its been nearly two years and I've made a number of purchases, but I have a ton more to do. I had a buildup thread here before the site crashed, but until now I haven't really done anything new to start a new one. Well, spring is here and the car needs to be running ASAP.

Here's what I already have done:

    • -Dart 8.2 Sportsman Block
      -Scat 4340 forged crank
-Scat 4340 forged H beam rods with ARP 2000 rod bolts
      -JE/SRP forged pistons
      -Internally balanced rotating assembly
      -Powerbond SFI balancer; 0 balance
-Fidanza SFI aluminum flywheel, 0 balance
      -Clevite 77 main bearings
      -Clevite 77 rod bearings
      -Childs and Aberts rings
      -Crane Cams billet timing set
      -FMS billet steel blocker plate
-RNH Performance oil system package consisting of:
      -Melling M10688 oil pump
      -ARP chrome-moly oil pump shaft
      -Canton 7qt oil pan
      -Holley Systemax Intake
-AFR 165 60cc pedestal heads with lightweight valve springs/retainers
      -My old FTI custom cam

The heads are going to the machine shop this week to have a valve job done and then I will reassemble them and put them on the car. I'm only temporarily going to run these 165's. They will eventually be pulled from this shortblock and will go on my '90GT along with the rest of my old combo. I am outfitting them with a cool valvespring/retainer setup though and I will post up pics when they are done to see if anyone can tell what I did.

My '90GT that will be receiving all of my '95's old parts: (it looks rough but the interior and underside are spotless!

My 17X9 Bogart wheels that fit perfectly with my stock front suspension ended up having clearance issues with my PA racing tubular setup and coil overs due to the BS I had selected for them. Since these wheels are a true 3 piece design, I am getting a new back half for the wheel to cut out 1" of BS and thus making it a 17X8 wheel. This should clear up my clearance issues and my 245 series tires will not look as stretched either on the smaller wheel.

I have a new Cervini's stalker front bumper, ABC exclusive saleen style side skirts, a MPS saleen style heat extractor hood, and a 1 of 499 cobra hardtop for my car. I still need to purchase my saleen rear bumper and when I do the car will be repainted and the new body kit will go on.

If I can swing it, a 6pt bar will also be going in the car.

Today I set in an old block along with my holley intake to see if the intake will clear my hood with a 3/8" spacer... thankfully it does!

That's it for now, I'll keep updating this as things get done.

I told me wife years ago that if I ever came across one that I'd do everything I could to get it. I was on ebay one night and came across it, and it was for local pickup only. It was right around my birthday and I basically asked everyone that would normally get me something to help chip in so that I could get this top. I paid a decent amount for it, but not no where near what I've seen some of them go for. The head liner is pulling away from the sides in the very back, I think it just needs re-stretched and glued. Other than that its flawless. Its heavy as hell though, I bet it goes a good 125-150lbs. DOH! Just what I needed... more weight to my already portly 'vert! The only reason why I bought it was because of its uniqueness. I love being able to drop the top and the top will be down more than this will be on, but I plan to never sell my car and when I had the opportunity to snag one of these very rare pieces I did. Plus, if and when I have my daughter in the car I think the hardtop will be a plus from a safety and "fumes" standpoint. LOL!

Here's some pics of the hood and hardtop on the car:

And here's the new front bumper, I can't wait to ditch my old kit for these new pieces!!!

Thanks again guys, I can't wait to get this thing done!!!

Sean, its really hard to guess as an ETA as I haven't even contacted anyone yet about paint, but if all things work as planned the heads will be done and assembled in no more than 3 weeks. At that point the motor goes in, and it should be ready to run for the first time in 2yrs which is a BIG step in the right direction.

I got some parts today to help me with the heads. Here's my new 7* locks and valve seals:

I also picked up a blast cabinet from Harbor Freight as I got tired of never being able to find a shop that could do small parts for me. I hit one of my stainless steel FMS headers today with some glass bead and below is the results. I plan to powdercoat them with some high temp. coating I bought from eastwood a while back. We'll see if it holds like it claims, they say its good to 1000* and they market it for use with headers:

That's good to hear Ed. I've never known anyone else that has used this before and I was a little leary about it. Oh well, they will only be on the car for a year or so anyway then my swain coated ones will be on that face forward!!! :)
