How to test temp sending unit??

I have this to control my fan turning on and off:

my fan has been acting up lately and I think this may be the issue. Is there any way to test this to make sure its working properly before spending freakin $30 on a new one? how common is it for them to go bad? i've used mine for about 10k miles

Check a wiring diagram, I believe once they hit a certain temp the voltage changes from it and send signal to turn fan on?

You may have to get the car up to temp and check and see if there is any signal coming from it.

its just a ground switch let it heat up and test to see if you have a ground on the post
