Whats funny is, the stock 5.0 GT cam's profile is more aggressive in it's non electronically controlled state than say the FRPP Hot Rod cams for the 3v.

So, who cares if they lope?

I guess an old pushrod 5.0 with a little comp cam is ricey too, since it would most likely run low 13s/high 12s but lope too.

No, because if you put a cam into a pushrod motor, you actually installed a cam. Getting a "ghost cam tune" means you went to a tuner, and told him you want your car to SOUND LIKE IT HAS CAMS. Big difference.

And LMAO at high 12s low 13s with a cam in a 5.0. My 86 GT went 12.70s back in '01 all day with the stock cam, GT40ps and Explorer intake. If you run low 13s with a cam in a 5.0 you are doing something wrong.

Getting a ghost cam tune in a new 5.0 is kind of like those fake blow-off valves I used to see in the back of Sport Compact Car, or those air intakes that look like intercoolers.

You're entitled to your opinion, just because with technology overlap is able to be programmed doesn't make it ricey. The vehicle has to be mechnically capable of creating overlap in order to "sound cammed". My car has cams, four of them to be precise. My stock cams most likely have a more aggressive profiling than most of the previous modular aftermarket camshafts did.

Theres no difference between electronically enabling it, or installing a cam with that particular profile. The new 5.0s use a Twin Indenpendant Variable Cam Timing system, which enable such capabilities.

You do realize the new 5.0s are pretty much knocking on the 11 second door or even diving into the 11's with just tires and a tune right? Who cares if it sounds cammed, most of the cars are putting down numbers to match their sound. Theres plenty of nasty sounding pushrod 5.0s that can barely squeek their way out of the 13s as well. Not saying OHV 5.0s are slow, far from it, used to own one many years ago myself. Just debating your logic on this one.

Edit: You are aware the "ghost cam" sound is just a feature attached to the actual performance tune right? Granted the overlap profile only lasts till about 1400 rpm, and adds zero to performance. I appreciate your opinion, but I think you need to do a little more research on Ti-VCT.

Look, I am truly sorry your feelings got hurt by me stating my opinion that actually paying someone to make your car sound cool is ricey and stupid. I do not need to do any more research on Ti-VCT, I am fully aware how the "ghost tune" works. I get it dude. Really.

You didn't hurt my feelings at all. What you're not getting is, nobody is really paying for just the ghost cam tune. It is a feature attached to their actual performance tune.

I also was told this by a friend that works in the Auto Industry..

Only going to work with Premium GTs with the MyKey feature.

Who is to say Ford didn't retune the GT PCM to hide it's "actual" mechanical idle, or to meet EPA regulations.

Damn Ford, trying to make a factory sleeper idle tune.

I have to say if I put $30,000 (The rough cost of a new 5.0) into my Fox it would trap about 150. I like the new 5.0's ,but comparing them to pushrod V-8's is like comparing apples and oranges.

I dont know I think its cool, after all the trac key is going to do it straight from ford.
I mean you could go with super aggressive cams in the 5.0 and tune it to have no lope, is that ricey? No. its much different than sticking something something in your car to make sound like you have a BOV. if the 5.0 has aggressive cams, now lets hear them.

    Lol so funny....

" shitboxes". Last time i read the top of the screen it said www.steelcitySTANGS.com

If anybody needs me ill be discussing all the features available on this years GTO over at ls1tech.........oh, they dont IMPORT those shitboxes anymore..............

Btw the " ghost tunes" were designed for more hp, the fake cam sound was just for posing...changing the lsa at idle to pretend that SKILLED modifications were done to the car, as M Aubele stated "is ricer". Swapping cams in a 4 cam car is a huge and involved project, the annoying part is that people will be driving around with " fake cam tune" pretending to have done real skilled mods to their car, and beating their chests about how mean they MADE their cars. That "mod" is right up there with new floor mats or better yet a headlight bulb install.
