Oil Pressure Sender (really a switch?)

I was told that the 1995+ oil pressure senders and gauges was just idiot lights with needles. Seems the sender is either on or off. Can anyone confirm this? If it is true, is it possible to change the sender and use the stock oil pressure gauge in the dash?

I have read that some F150 owners could use a sender from a 87-88 5.0L motor and jumper the resistor on the back of the oil Pressure gauge. Do our Mustang have any such solution?

Correct more like a dummy light.

I think on the Corral there was a thread that a guy was messing with gauge clusters to make them functional.
