LOL, I have an IHI around here that would make a nice upgrade for the one on yours

This actually isnt a lot bigger than my current turbo, but it's loaded with technology ... It's 1mm biger on the inducer, but it's a full billet compressor wheel plus the ported S cover ... old turbo was rated to support 465 HP, this one is only 535 HP all with the same turbine and 1 mm more compressor :D Between the S cover and lighter wheel it should come faster, make mre power under the curve, and be a fun little turbo

I just got everything on that car working the way it's supposed to be, I'm afraid to touch it lol. The IHI RHB52 VJ11 is stock, I'm running 16psi now and it falls flat on it's face at 5300rpm

C'mon, it's a turbo car, just about when you get it right you have to mess with something. I finally got mine running where I'm real happy with it and went and did this :D

LOL, Hal built the Volvo twin turbo car and sold it to another buddy John. It effectively ate everything and never really made any power. Hal built the car as a roadracer with IRS and all those goodies (see hoosier road race tires) and lost interest right after he turned the key. John still has it running on the Volvo head but with a small single turbo and punted on the SDS and has it running on Megasquirt ... he has been trying to sell it for the last year.

The DOHC Volvo thing is still a novelty in my opinion. Guys build them and get them to run, but it's more for the geee wow in my opinion. I have yet to see a Volvo headed car make more power than I am on an iron head but there is one in Michigan that is catching me (we will run at Milan NMRA). There is work going on with the Volvo SOHC head that hold more power potential in my opinion.

There are still three types of "bolt on" aluminum heads past where I'm at ... D-Port (my current iron outflows it), old SVO head, and the nasty ARCA head. I say "bolt on" becasue the SVO head need a custom intake and the ARCA head needs custom intake and header. I traded my old iron head for a damaged ARCA head (two broken lifter bores), just havent done anything with it yet. The ports on that head look like BBC rectangular port. Likely going to use that head in my Pinto wagon :D

Here is one of the first DOHC heads mocked up ...

Although not as glamorous looking, here is the SOHC Volvo mocked up ...

The weight savings would be nice, the issues they have would suck ... Too much maintenance IMO.

Well I think the Duratec is a Mazda design, just without the variable valve timing.
But yeah it's part of the family of Duratecs but can't even be tuned using the SCT software because of that variable valve timing. :(
