Giants Despair Hillclimb '11 July 9-10

Giants Despair Hillclimb, July 9-10. I am not sure if I am running, but there is plenty of American Iron running at the event to hold everyone's interest (if I run I will be in a Cobalt, it isn't like I am helping). A blown Mach 1, LS1 swapped 3rd gen Camaro, and a blown Fox Body will be battling for the SM win, and there are plenty other cool cars to watch. Great hill for spectators. Here is a video from one of my runs back in '07 from my blown stock long block '90 Fox that still holds the SM record of 45.5 there (RIP).

looks like fun, what are the regulations on the engine for these competitions?

Engine wise, practically no restrictions. There are classes for every car. The car in the video was in Street Modified. Has to be a factory block, that is about it. Turbo, S/C, legal. No nitrous though. 4 point rollbar, fire extinguisher, and driver's suit are the main safety requirements.

Dan Reed. This was a 45.6 run, he ran 45.3 earlier in the day. He lowered my record by two tenths, drove his ass off.

Paul Lynd. He ran 51.6 I believe, not sure what this run was though. Got SVT's brother.

Mike Robinson. Unfortunately no in-car, but outside video of the LS1 powered 3rd gen. He was deep in the 46's. SM car.

Me. This was one of the less squeal filled videos, the RE-01r's are no longer of this earth. Car sucked this weekend, but had fun. Attempted to entertain locals by driving on two wheels through the elbow numerous times. Best I could do was 52.2, right around what I thought it would do, impressive for a bone stock car.

No. Four point rollbar a minimum. Not a big deal, I actually put the one from my old Mustang into my Cobalt, just had to mount it to frame tubing to raise it 2". It can be bolt in.

Tell dan his rearview mirror fell off....the run in the cobalt looked good, did you get any vids of YOU driving or just the wife?

That's pretty funny. So how was your "race" this weekend, you know, the one where you sit inside your car in your garage and make "vroom vroom" noises and practice shifting while NEVER actually going anywhere?
