    Fueling question..

Hey whats up guys, I have been working hard as of late to get the mustang road worthy.. Well its not totally done but its on the road.

Got a quick question, I got the car from a kid that didn't know much about it and it has been all kinds fun funding all the mods to the car.. Huge amount.

Here is where the questions comes in. The motor appears to be 302 out of a 99 explorer due to EV6 injectors. gt40p heads that are stock for that motor. Only real mods I can see is Cobra Upper intake 70mm TB CIA and mac shorty headers. with that said the 19lb injectors (stock) are working double time to keep it fed. I have to run 50psi at the rail just to keep it from going lean. I do know it has 1.72 RR but with such little in the way of mods why is this motor so hungry? I considering putting in 24lb injectors but holding off for a spring time SC install.

Does that sound normal? From some reading the 19's should be good for 300hp but even at 50psi I still get lean codes on occasion..

I would think 19's would be ok for that setup as I would guess it is a ~260rwhp setup. Fwiw I made 380rwhp with 24's na with 45lbs of base FP.

So is it possible this motor is not stock internally because of the fact that the 19s are coming up short on the high end? also mine is untuned.. yours tuned? Probably wishful thinking on the internal mods but only thing I can think of that would explain the lean condition.

If the only things is rockers and rest is 99 spec 302 except the Cobra intake, I don't see any reason why it would need more fuel than normal. Maybe you should invest in a wideband and get it on the dyno? Especially if you are already guessing at the mods, maybe there's more going on than you think?

If it looks good, you'll see it. If it sounds good, you'll hear it. If it's marketed right, you'll buy it. But if it's real, you'll feel it. IG: @donuttrump

When you say this, are you checking pressure while driving or just setting base? It sounds like you dont know what in it as far as pump, but it could be a fuel pump issue if you are setting base and not checking it at high RPM. Basically the pump will reach pressure at low flow, but can't keep up at high loads ... just a thought, I would check the pressure while driving.

50psi at idle..Pressure gauge is under the hood.. I will take a look at the pressure under load.

As for a dyno tune, I have some winter plans for the car so dont see spending the cash when I am just going to add a SC and have to get a retune.
