Can't imagine how the NFL has unfair work conditions. Many of the players feel the owners are making millions off of them and they get paid peanuts... How much was the most recent #1 draft pick contract? 6 yrs for $78 million with $50 mil of that guaranteed? There's not a single player in the NFL "struggling." Whether they get hurt or retire at 40, they never have to work again in their life. Even the bare minimum in the NFL is $300,000/yr, and that involves handing Gatorade to the $78 million dollar player and slapping his ass.

All of them just need to STFU and be thankful for what they got.

I can't imagine those who aren't in the industry thinking they can tell those who are what they can and can't make.

If its such a sleigh ride in the NFL I have to wonder why more of you aren't out playing.

I'd like to see the NFL do what the xfl tried to do. pay them all a flat rate and give them more money per catch, run, etc. an incentive to play well. different positions would have a different starting salary if they wanted. let them play 18 games. for what they're paid **** 'em.

Is that to say getting paid $12 million per year is not enough money for 48 hours of work?

And BTW... I think we do have the right to an opinion on what the players can and can't make. Isn't it the fans who buy the tickets and the concessions and the merchandise that go towards these salaries?

To you it probably is. However look at it in their eyes. They have a viewerbase and ticket sales off the charts. They have the demand. So much that people are up in arms (this thread for instance) about them not working.

Like any other business, if you think its too expensive for what they offer, go somewhere else. If you truly feel that you aren't getting your money's worth from the NFL, stop going to their games and watching their advertised broadcasting. Most of you won't which would mean that you believe your money and time spent is worth the price.

Honestly, I think the entire thing is a load of BS. It makes me sick to see law enforcement officers that are working their butts off and getting killed, yet there are only making maybe 25 grand a year, YET there are bulky men out there who think that they are gods gift from earth that get paid millions to throw a football around and play a game??? Don't get me wrong, I'm a big football person but I think it's outrageous when they want more money or their "fair share", when they are already set for life after one season. Its insane! Just because they can play a game well they should be paid a crap load?
    SICKENING!

just for the record, the 1,500 or so guys in the NFL are probably not the most talented football players in the world. there are probably 10 guys for every player in the NFL that has more talent, but for whatever reason their parents, friends or coaches never pushed them far enough. those folks actually went to college, got a degree and they're working in the private sector doing whatever. there is no shortage of talent in this country. we watch football for the sport, not for one or two players... proof? we still watch after our favorite player gets arrested, traded or retires, right? we'd still watch the Steelers this fall if it was all scabs. troof!

I say we pack up all the players and ship them to Irac and cut them loose in the desert with only bows and arrows to defend themselves. Then make live feeds of them earning those millions.

It didn't succeed because the players knew they couldn't get the dollars in the xfl as they do in the nfl if they had to actually EARN it. Where is the incentive to catch that pass across the middle if you're guaranteed 10 mill. a year??? Failure doesn't always equal bad idea. Let the lockout continue and see what these overpriced/undereducated freaks would play for.

Everybody is so upset about what these football players make but they don't bat an eye to pay top dollar to go see them play. They wouldn't make sh!t if people didn't make this stuff their life.

    +1

Every single person in here that is crying about no Football, it's your fault.

I personally hope they can get every penny they can from the owners.

And to the guy trying to talk about the XFL,

I can give a flyin F about football unless the Steelers are in the Playoffs pretty much! And I think its totally crazy, obsurd, rediculous, that anyone includin hockey, baseball, whatever sports players etc. can play a kids sport and get paid millions of dollars!!! While hard workin people gotta beg and bust every inch of their bodies anymore ta make a buck/penny! For all I care the hell with sports, just bunch a greedy scumbags anymore, F'em all!!
And on the union deal, I work't in Television production over the last decade and in 08'-09' workin like a half a dozen Pens games, for VS., NBC sports, CBS sports(Canada) which um asumming was like 3 to many btw since I haven't got call'd back again cause the union workers cry'd about me workin not payin my union dues. Now it was only since they needed me cause alot of the union workers were obligated to work FSN/Fox durin the playoffs. But my two buddies that's been in the business of over 20yrs aren't gettin call'd anymore, the one pay'd union dues for a year and only got one gig, wtf!
Nothing makes sense anymore, everyone in the whole worlds hurtin for money, the country's in mad amounts of debts, and everythings pretty much BS and ass backwards! Your damn'd if ya do it right and ur damn'd if ya don't!! What ta do, reeeallly!!??

... one more thing, don't most of these guy have agents? isn't that like a personal union? why pay agents and union dues? shouldn't your agent that is stealing like 10% of your pay be able to negotiate your salary and working conditions as well or better than any union? just goes to show how athletes are truly stupid. if you got the talent and you know it, you should be able to market yourself and negotiate your own deals.

THIS HERE IS MY FAVE!!!!! I COMPLETELY AGREE! Then again, the entire NFL would be wiped to nothing... HAH! They can throw a ball, can they shoot a gun? The MIGHT be able to throw a granada far enough to safe their asses but thats prob about it...
