    Wow Ed I couldn't imagine the panic you felt when you got that phone call... That's horrible to have happened but also like you said it is a testament to modern safety devices in vehicles. There were air bags hanging down all over the inside of that mountaineer, and it seems they did exactly what they were supposed to do. I hope your wife does well in recovery, not being able to walk for a while is rough, but I guess it is better than if she had been paralyzed. Keep us updated on her condition.

    Ed, I'm very happy to hear your family is OK, I couldn't imagine that.
    I recently bought my wife an '05 Aviator and I had to show her this. It is essentially the same SUV and was the first to have that canopy style air-bag system. She may hate the gas mileage, but I really do feel they are safer in it.

    No question, the vehicle saved everyone's life. Your family can feel safe in the Aviator. Screw the gas mileage, I'll take tonnage any day of the week!

    sorry to hear about this...my mom was just in a bad accident on tuesday the 19th was on the news too...she wasnt wearing her seatbelt and hit a telephone pole and was ejected through the windshield...list of injuries including broken pelvis, spinal fractures, and her right orbital bone is fractured...weird thing was air bags didnt go off....car is demolished

    just to put it into perspective without safety devices...like i said she wasnt wearing her seatbelt and the airbags didnt go off for some reason...

    I just saw this myself. Wow Ed you and your family are defenately blessed to survive this! I couldn't imagine how you felt getting that call and then comming onto the scene. Best wishes to you and your family.

    Kona, I hope your mom recovers soon too, that looks like a scary crash as well.
