    Worst call ever

    That Ump should be fired!

What a terrible way to lose in 19 innings.

Great game tho! Reminded me of Pirates V Braves '92

Wow - just saw the replay - what a horrendous call. The ump needs to be in MUCH better position than that to make a call. MLB should admit the screw-up like the NFL did after they disallowed Troy's INT vs the Colts back in 2005.

What really sucks is that these July games actually mean something to the Bucs. In the past 18 years nobody would have cared...

Fell asleep during the 18th inning, woke up at 7 am on my couch... Glad I missed that bullshit.

I don't like baseball either, but I'm glad to see the local team doing well. It's good for the city, good for the economy, morale, etc.

Plus, my 83 year old grandfather loves baseball- it really is his generation's sport. I hope the Pirates keep giving him a good season.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have filed a formal complaint with the Commissioner regarding last night's blown call that cost the team a win. President Frank Coonelly said "while we cannot begin to understand how Umpire Jerry Meals did not see the tag made by Michael McKenry three feet in front of home plate, we do not question the integrity of Mr. Meals."

I know the call was horrible, but it didn't necessarily cost the Pirates a win, as the game still would have been tied. Who knows what would have happened in the remainder of the bottom of the 19th of afterwards... But still - it does suck that the Buccos got such a raw deal...

I watch't bits and pieces of the whole game and the ump's were terrible! Balls were strikes and strikes were balls, in like the 13 er 14th their was a double play and at first base they said he was safe when he was pretty much out too!

What sport isn't your grandfather's sport?

    Baseball
    Football
    Basketball
    Golf
    Olympic sports
    Fighting
    Gambling
    Motorsports

    There isn't any "modern" sport!

    Well, video gaming!

Had a guy stop in at work I think trying to sell Pirates stuff. He asked when last I went. I said '91. He was oh man you need to go see a game. You'll miss them when they're in the playoffs.

I laughed, turned around and went about what I was doing.

The freefall is here, just came a little later than usual. 7 in a row and counting.

I feel bad for all the hopeless Kool-Aid drinkers who have the Pirates management continue to play games with them and make them think this is a competitive team.

I'm not off the bandwagon. I am a realist though... compared at least to the Brewers and Cardinals, the Bucs are lacking. Brewers have Braun, Fielder, Weeks, Hart, the Cards have Pujols, Holliday, Berkman. Last weekend the Bucs faced Halladay, Lee, and Worley, along with the Phillies line up. This series against the Cubs sucked though. Last 2 games were heartbreakers. But, there is a reason all the games get played. Are they a long shot at the division, even without the losing streak? Sure. But it's still possible. I like Hurdle's approach. He knows the players have to work themselves out of it. It would be nice to get Alvarez going, and see something out of Ludwick. There's 52 games left. I'm going to support them, and hope they can pull it out. That's one of the great things about where they are. It will be a thrill if they can be in the chase down to the end. If not, they have already exceeded expectations and are headed on the right track.

I think folks are spoiled by the Steelers. It's fun to see the Pirates playing .500 and
fighting a Pennant race. They don't have to go "all the way" to be a worthy baseball
franchise. This is a young team that plays with lots of passion!

They have set some attendance records too!
