    03 Cobra Grille Removal

I have been looking around for info on this, but haven't found much. I'm guessing it's the same setup as any other 99-04, but have any of you guys removed the grill insert from the front of the car? Does the bumper need to come off? My piece is pretty faded and dull and I wanna take it out to either spray it in satin black or Plasti Dip it.

    Any ideas?

Best way would be to unbolt the cover since it tucks under there. Its not very hard to pull off either.

Bump. I figure I can put this in the same thread rather than a new one.

What color is the undercoating in the wheel wells from factory? I was using degreaser to get the road paint out of the rear wells and it started coming off BLACK like the undercoating was coming off, but there was still stuff on there that felt like the undercoating. However, the underneath is like a brown/gold color. Is that what it looks like when there isnt 8 years of dirt on it? Or did I scrub right through the black coating?

If so, whats the best stuff to refinish it without adding more undercoating (weight)???

    Thanks

Dan, here is a link you might find helpful as I did when I got my 03 Cobra. There is a section covering the wheels.

We may be talking about different things, although I have wanted to remove the coating off the inside of the wheels.

I'm talking about cleaning in the wells and washing away the black paint that covers the factory undercoating.

Car has had Nitto 555's on it for at least the past 6 years. It comes of looking like caked up grime, but then the underneath is like a gold color, but not the color of the car.
