    NMRA Columbus September 2nd - 4th

Alright guys, a little over a month away, but who is in for the Columbus NMRA Race? Here is the schedule ...

    http://www.nmradigital.com/schedule/event7.php

We are planning for a few of the 2.3 guys to get together again and run True Street, but the more the merrier ...

Most typical street cars will either run True Street or one of the bracket classes. If you plan to run True Street you could jusy come for the day Saturday, or come and test Friday, and/or stay Sunday and run the brackets for free.

I have to say, I really enjoy the True Street deal, and the more guys you get the more fun it seems to be ... You get ot test together, then cruise together, and ultimately you are all in the lanes for your passes together, then finished to hang out some more :D Really a good time regardless of what your car runs.

Post up if you are coming so we don't have to call you out

I was just looking at this earlier this week and I plan on going for the weekend. I had a question in regards to the pricing that some of the guys that have been before might be able to answer. It looks like from the info below that it would only be $10 more to race than to just spectate if I go for the bracket III. Is this true and what exactly is bracket III? There's a pretty big price difference between that one and the other racing options.

Friday Only and Friday through Sunday Pricing

    Friday Only: 1-Day Spectator
    $20.00
    *Friday through Sunday: Car Show:
    $55.00
    Friday through Sunday: 3-Day Spectator:
    $55.00
    Friday through Sunday: 3-Day Crew:
    $55.00
Friday through Sunday: 3-Day Drag Race (NMRA Bracket III) Participant
    $65.00
    *Friday through Sunday: Swap/Coral
    $70.00
Friday through Sunday: 3-Day Drag Race (NMRA Brackets I & II) Participant
    $105.00
Friday through Sunday: 3-Day Drag Race (NMRA Heads-Up) Participant $105.00

That is correct, BIII is rather cheap. If you go that way, you will get to test on Friday (something like 11:00-3:00), One time trial early Saturday, then into elimination later (dial in, cut a light and race the stripe stuff), then a new race on Sunday as well (same format). so you can get at least two passes each day for your entry. NOTE - On Saturday, BII & BIII are combined so you will be racing full race cars, but Sunday it is BIII as a class

BIII requires DOT tires through the mufflers, no electronics, so it's basically a street class, butthe purse is really small ...

Although more money ($105.00), you should really consider True Street for the fun of it. Yo uwill get to test Friday, then Saturday go for the 30 mile cruise and make three hot lap passes ... You then get a free entry into BIII for Sunday. So it's more money, but there is a lot more attention on the True Street with being featured as a class and being covered by MM&FF magazine and other publications. It's really a fun class to race.

Thanks for the info Bob! I wasn't originally thinking about racing but figured I'd consider it for just an extra $10. I know when I go to PRP to watch I end up getting the itch to run. I don't really get too much enjoyment out of bracket racing so just getting a couple runs per day would be ok with me. I'm mainly there just to watch anyways.

It looks like we could get a good turnout. Are all of you that say you are coming going to race or just coming out?

If you are coming to race, True street would be perfect for you.

There is also a pretty decent size car show at these events with lots of prizes. I never have time to pay too much attention to it, but they get a lot of cars and have a lot of trophy's anyway.

Columbus is a little weak on the swap meet and manufacturers midway IMO any more. It used to be a huge swap, but it has dwindled over the years.

If you are interested in racing, the heads up cars are amazing to watch.

Just one other point, if you are coming for any time, bring your own supplies (water, drinks, food) or a lot of money ... Columbus is stupid expensive for everything IMO ... Also remember you can come and go, so you can go outside for those things too.
