mach 1 motor vs cobra motor

What is the difference between these motors? The 03-04's. Are the internals the same? Just wondering since the mach motor can't handle more than 450hp as apposed to the cobra which 500 is easy to get.

    no they're different.

03 cobra has an iron block whereas the mach's had an aluminum one (not 100% on this one but pretty sure).

cobra had forged manley H beam rods from the factory, forged crank, forged pistons. mach's i believe had cast crank if you had an auto trans and forged if you had a 5 speed (i have no idea why), cast rods, and regular pistions.

also mach 1 had higher compression being N/A

im also guessing the heads are the exact same but the cams are different between the two cars because the cobras are supercharged

I would actually be interested in the differences as well. Looking to get a Mach 1 over a Cobra to save money and get a solid rear.

Mach1 has same motor as a 99/01 Cobra.

If it looks good, you'll see it. If it sounds good, you'll hear it. If it's marketed right, you'll buy it. But if it's real, you'll feel it. IG: @donuttrump

No the 99-01s have different heads and cams than mach 1s. some 01s have a WAP block some have a teksid. machs all have have WAPs, 99s have teksids....they all are aluminum, ryan was right about the cranks in the mach 1s, forged if standard shift

    03-04 have an iron block
03-04 mach heads = same casting as 03-04 cobra heads

also the reason why the machs cranks were forged or not forged is because thats the only 4.6 4v in a mustang put in front of an auto trans, so they just used the 6 bolt flexplate to mate it to the auto. 8 bolt if standard shift

Mach 1s heads are the same as 03-04 cobra but the cams are more aggressive

haha bottom line, mach 1 engine is similar to a 99/01 cobra but its one of its own completely.........marginally better than cobras, aviator and marauders have the same long block as well

I always wondered why there was a difference. I just thought that it was because a manual shift would be harder on the crank than an auto.
