IT's just funny to bring out a "fast ford or GM" for a bracket racing event. In fact if i wanted to win I woudl show with a.........well a minivan or k-car would do.

I'm not ragging on bracket racing I don't have anything against the sport, I just wouldn't make an event calling "fastest fords and GMs" and make it a bracket race.

Where do you see anything about "fastest" Ford v GM?

What I see is a cool event that pits Ford v GM in competitive racing.

All sports have rules for a reason, it makes the competition fair.
I also laugh at people who say that cuz it takes ALOT more than money to make a fast car..

And whats wrong with people having slow cars saying it? All it means is they didnt bring enough.

a 9 sec car is slow to an 8 sec car

    This...

****, a stock Festiva with bald 165 wide tires and only running on 2 cylinders could win it.

Nonsense. Well, maybe at the rinky dink tracks you race.

I've raced plenty of fast cars that run to the thousandth of dial in.

The fact of the matter is, you just can't compete!

    I DON'T bracket race.

All I am saying is if you are good enough, you can win a bracket race with a car that is 10 seconds slower. ITS BRACKET RACING. You do not NEED a FAST car.

Why the hate for bracket racing? Is it cause you suck at it?

You have to be a good driver and you have to have a good car to win. Guys that win
bracket races a lot have spent a lot of time on setup and driving skills. Every once in
a while a guy in a street car wins, score one for the little guy. But most of the time if
the track has proper brackets, you're racing equal cars.

Most bracket races are lost for the same reasons you lose heads up racing; You cut a
bad light. Your car didn't hook. Your car didn't cover its best time. If this was a heads
up racing against an equal car, you also would've lost.

Do you like to go to test and tune? That isn't racing. It's not even a competition. That
bores me to tears. I like the thrill of a real competition.

Street racing is heads up. But it's not a sport. It's also dangerous.

We had a great turn out for this event. We had alot of slow and FAST cars .We had cars that were from 17 sec to 9. GM won both classes. The winners were in the 10sec range.
    Thanks

I do not know what you didn't read in my post that says I have nothing against bracket racing. I just don't do it, that is all. I raced brackets once and it was that gamblers race I told you about.

Ask anyone that has ran against me, I have absolutely no problem cutting a light.

As for what kind of racing I am into, let me tell you this year I have raced twice. One time was the SWPAMotorsports Benchracer annual, a HEADS UP race. The track that was rented for the event also ran a gamblers race in the middle of it, the first round I went 7.98 on a 7.98 dial, then I went to the second round and broke out.

The second race I went to, was the Flashlight drags, again, HEADS UP racing. My favorite type of racing is HEADS UP racing. It is the most fun to do, and the most fun to watch.

BOTH times I raced this year, I was on a new setup. So I am still working bugs out and dialing in my setup.

Bracket racing is fun to do, but in my honest opinion, is boring to watch. I have nothing against it though, I have friends that bracket race, and if I had the money I would do it more often. This whole year I have been fighting to get my car down the track at least once.

What YOU aren't getting through your little brain is I never once said anything bad about bracket racing. ALL I SAID was that you DO NOT NEED A FAST CAR TO WIN A BRACKET RACE. There was a minivan at the track with a woman driver that knocked all of us out including big tire bracket cars. She just knows her vehicle and knows how to drive it. That was all I said, and I don't see how but you turned it into me hating bracket racing.

Also that day we had a little competition, whoever cuts the best light off a pro tree wins. I won. So do not tell me I can't cut a light.

My next race this year will be at Bowling Green, Ky. for Holley's LS Fest. I am entering TWO index classes there.

So before you come on here and tell me Test N Tune is no competition, remember, I haven't went to a single Test N tune this whole year. And at least at Test N tune, you watch cars run ALL OUT.

I never once lost a heads up race for going TOO FAST.

Lol... I enjoy drag racing, it's fun and takes some talent to do well. If you want real excitement strap yourself into a circle track or road race car and go drive 100+mph while there are 4 cars less than a 1/2" from yours...

Mike, index racing (and true street) is bracket racing. They just set the brackets,
instead of you having a chance to dial in a more precise one.

I am a True Street class winner.... loved it!

But in my opinion, it takes more driver skill and car setup to win a bracket race.
And if you understand why, watching it isn't boring.

True heads up (NHRA, IHRA, NMRA) all have strict rules to even the playing field.
There is no run what you brung heads up sportsman racing.

Because it is ridiculously unfair. It's not a sport. It favors the guy with the most
money to spend. Which is the bane of car culture today.

I'm not stupid. I just don't get the point.

Mike, also wanted to say, bracket racers keep a passionate eye on their best ETs.
They are just as "thrilled" when they can cut their dial to a new low.

Then proceed to eliminations to see if you can do it again!

Racing/improving yourself is what sport is about.

I've done road course and hillclimb racing.

I think it's even more about driver skill than bracket racing.

Drag racing is more about the car, bracket racing increases the driver quotient.

Just a general statement about bracket racing, nothing against anyones opinions, but I think the number one reason alot of guys dont like bracket racing is because they dont fully understand the game and the effort that bracket racers put into in it. The competition is far more competitive then many other motorsports and allows guys of all different budgets to participate. One other thing that makes bracket racing fun to watch is knowing the different racers and the rivalies (<-spelling lol) and following the points series. These are just a few points to think about, thats its.
