I raced this one once before my build with just a front mount, and a waste gate, and slicks ran 12.97@103. Now has Built topend and big turbo on it. It is limited on power right now though. It is currently maxed out on fuel. It's putting out 440hp on pump @20 PSI right now. Once I do the duel fuel pump set up on this build it will be around 650-700 HP on race gas. It will be a screamer. I should also get at least 500 on pump too after the duel pumps are on. I am guessing 10.99 on pump gas after finished @ around 129-130 and low 10's @ around 140's on race gas. Not to shabby for a neon. Best part is it still gets 30 miles to a gal. One the highway.

That's a mean machine. No wonder you caught him off guard! lol

But the stock Stang still beat it - with front mount, waste gate (PSI?), and slicks!

a car is a car is a car..... just because his car is orange doesn't mean he's not an apple

If i had a stock T/A, and got beat by a Terminator, then cried about how "if i had a supercharger though, i'd blow you away", you'd be crying up a storm about it ... "what if" this "what if" that.....

and don't tell me you don't know what i mean... even on this site back in the day, there were the "well Ford is cheating.. if i had a supercharger on my car" threads....

its a car vs. car matchup.. it just so happens that the SRT-4 was superior in this instance...
    AMEN

OK? What's your point? That a car 7 years newer that cost $9000 more new with an engine twice it's size was able to beat an old SRT4 with a couple of bolt-ons?
    LOL

I DO like SRT4s- you could pick them up for $21K brand new back in the day and go run 13s bone stock. They also make damn decent power with small, easy mods (as does anything with forced induction). They are little rattly tin cans, but you couldn't beat them at the time when it came to bang for buck.

There's an old story about the BMW 1.5L turbo F1 motor. Rumor had it they couldn't
build a dyno to measure their peak HP. It kept breaking any dyno they tried to build
(est @ 1300 HP). The trick wasn't how to make obscene power, they had that down,
the trick was how to keep the motor together for a full race.

F1 banned turbos because everyone was making hand grenade motors.

They were wicked fast, but they blew up left and right! $$$

Sadly, it seems they are set to return again.

^ The moral is, anyone can boost the crap out of a motor.

It takes real engineering to make naturally aspirated horsepower.

funny that i have put 36000 miles a srt4 and raced it once a week for 3 years and not one stock broken part. still has the same compression as it did the day it left the showroom. just saying lol

im not saying my srt is better than my mustang or visa versa. they are both fun cars to drive, thats why i have one of each. right now my srt is faster than my mustang. maybe down the road my mustang will be faster. when it comes to racing though a win is a win. dont mater what brand of car you have. there is no reason to make excusses, if i lose i lose.
me personaly i dont like chevys. if i lose to one i dont tell him well if i had a bigger turbo i would have beaten you. i tell him he has a quick car and a thumbs up.

a race, 2 or more cars hit the gas at the same time whichever one hits the finish line first is the undisputed winner of that race even if its only by an inch. the winner brought the best car to that race. next race maybe different but you get my point lol.

let have fun here and give a hand to the guys that win a race. you cant win them all.
dont bash a car because you dont like it.

First off let me say good kill. I raced a pretty stout neon a while back in my cobra and only beat him by a car or two up to around 140. He said he had stock long block with a bigger turbo and put down 420 to the wheels.

How much power do the stock short blocks typically handle in those things? What about the stock tranny and axles? Just curious what all needs to be upgraded when you start making north of 400WHP.

My S3 SRT-4 had over 110k miles on it, never had any motor problems and still trapped almost 120mph on race fuel. Hardly unreliable

So you must have been disappointed at the lack of engineering ford displayed with the crappy blown 4V's in the 03 Cobra's.

thanks your car look nice too by the way.
stock bottom will hold 750hp. my old 04 srt was just a bolt on car. it also had 440 at the wheels on pump gas. had it 3 years raced it once a week on slicks and didnt break one stock part on that car. it was on stock trans and stock axles too.

sold it when i had to get knee surgery. needed money lol.

ill let you know how much over 440 they handle till the trans or axles go in this 05 i have now after i get the fuel set up complete.

topend is built to handle 750 all day to match the bottom.
