They cost more to own and mod $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I was making 24k in 87 when I bought my first new Stang for 12k.

Today they cost 30k+, you probably make 60k to own one.

Sad to say, the every-man doesn't make 60k.

The rest is open to opinion.

    I agree...

with prices going up almost every model year, they are starting to be less and less of the 'affordable muscle car' and 'best bang for your buck' like they were originally made to be.

It makes me sick when I see people with original window stickers of 60's stangs and they are like $2,000 hahah

It's so ridiculous I've not even test drove a new Mustang since the late 90s.

Sure, I've lusted for them when I saw them, but that's about it.

I already know they are beyond my "toy" budget.

Cars for a hobby stopped when the old muscle cars became more expensive than new muscle cars. That is when I stepped out of the old and got into the new, starting with my 04 Cobra and now GT500. If you have owned any of the old muscle cars you know they are not really worth what they are selling for and there is no comparison in performance,

    Cost of car - 30,000
    Down payment - $2000
    Interest rate - 9%

    Payment - $582 x 60 months.

    Total - $36,920

Most experts and banks say for vehicle loan installments you should avoid
paying more than 20 percent of the money you have left each month after
paying all your regular expenses—rent or mortgage, utilities, normal food
and transportation charges, credit cards, etc.

Of course, people borrow more than they can afford all the time.

The entire economy is choking on income to debt ratio.

The average income is 40k and falling....

Or how about some people have patience and save up money over a period of time to put a bigger down payment or better yet just paid cash for it and u forgot to add in a trade in value. Say the person lives at home with no bills? To make that statement you left too many factors out on the table

Fair enough. There is always exceptions.

    But we're talking the every-man.

When you factor in all those that make 100-200k the 40k average is also
skewed. The majority of workers are actually making 20-35k.

Even at 40k, you're talking 30k or less after taxes.

Sounds like a lot of legal mumbo jumbo to me.
The way I look at this is in 1967 when he walked away from the car industry and gave what he claimed was his to Ford and told everyone to kiss his A$$ I was done with him. Sure he was a wheeler & dealer you have to be in that racket But when you go on the war path and start suing the little guy that's trying to make a buc he crossed the line, he gave up his rights in 67 when he could care less about the cars! Now move ahead to 1978 ish and SAAC is in the picture the cars are increasing in value now he wants all the glory.

Sure I own one It's called a investment I also bought the car when it wasn't worth 10K but the cars value would have been zero if the guys from SAAC didn't save what Shelby was throwing in dumpster and tracking down all the records that were stashed in the attic that were Destined for a land fill, I give him credit for the early years but after 1985ish he turned into a sue everyone slim ball...

By 67 Cobra sales were weak and they were never really profitable. Ford had a lot to do
with the Shelby Mustang situation. Shelby wanted to build light, small block, road racing
Mustangs, Ford wanted to build bigger heavier muscle cars. The 69 Mach 1 replaced the
Mustang GT and GT500, the Boss 302 replaced the Shelby GT350.

Shelby saw the writing on the wall, he got squeezed out.

About all the lawsuits, this is America, people and corporations defend their brands and
their (potential) income with lawsuits all the time.

Using lawsuits to settle disputes is just business as usual.

Would you prefer we go back to using guns?

    well back on topic hahah....

even though I am not a fan of Shelby, I got his back on this one. I think this woman is lying out her ass because she wants money. Why would she wait so long to do something about it? ridiculous....

she said someone at Shelby's house drugged and raped her and she's blaming him for it...
first of all, even if that did happen, its not shelby's fault.
secondly, I HIGHLY doubt old ass Shelby is throwing these huge raging parties where people get drugged and raped like hes still in college or something hahaha

she's seeking 5 million in damages. Where the fu*k does she get that number (unless she just wants a lot of money).

-"How much do you want for all that has happened to you??"
-"Oh, I dunno... I'm guessing I need at least $5 million because my vag is loose from getting raped at Shelby's house" hahaha
