    Why are wranglers so expensive?????

seriously, what the fu*k?! why are jeep wranglers so expensive. I was looking at used ones just to have a winter ride and they are insane.

I see a 2002 wrangler with 140k. guy is asking $9500! its bone stock!

    another '99 wrangler 110k. guy wants $7000!

and new ones are about the same price as a brand new mustang GT premium.

That is ridiculous. They are the most basic SUV i've ever seen. Why on earth are they so expensive and why do they hold their value????

    sorry. had to vent.

I got a good buy on a 97 and kept it for two years and sold it for more than I paid for it.. It's crazy.

I agree - I've always thought they were ridiculously priced in the used market. I have no idea why that is the case...

Probably because they are a popular vehicle. My brother had a nice clean CJ he sold for $7000 2 years ago.

the 4.0 is a great motor apparently, I never understood why either when I saw them in the shop (rarely). I guess they run good, take a beating are just generally good vehicles. at least chrysler did something right :D

They hold their value... you look up some on KBB and you'd be surprised. Like Foxbody GTs, the ones with Automatics always seem to sell for less.

I bought my 2004 Wrangler in February of 2009.... Bone stock, Jeep Wrangler X (Has the 4.0L with the 5-speed the next year they went to 6-speed) with 16,000 miles on it and paid 13,000... I got a hell of a deal.

Now with the 2" OME lift, 31" tires, and hard top and only 32,000 miles, I could still flip it for over what I paid for it...

Great daily driver and when it snows, its the same affect as a warm sunny, summer day in a Mustang... you're out hitting the blizzards trying to get stuck.

haha people that have them don't even get it!

I just thought since they were popular and were a dime a dozen that they wouldn't hold their value so well, but actually that makes them more expensive

I believe its one of the few production vehicles that has a full frame and full body tub, right? :D At least for it's size...

And don't ever call a Jeep a SUV... its a Jeep.

This is pretty much How I feel. but my jeep is the crapy 2.5 but I got it for 1700 with 88k on it, too bad it ate a piston at 89k. I needed it for a dd so had to put another 2.5 in (wish I could have done a 4.0, but it took to many other parts, engine mounts trans tranfer case)

But 1800 for a new engine and a bed liner pain job I have a DD that has no power and gets 16mpg

after two bottles of cheap tire shine!

    Now its always muddy.

I have looked at these a few times over the years and have found myself saying this same thing over and over... For being one of of the most impractical vehicles out there, they sure are pricey. I would like to get a Rubicon though someday!

I agree. I like them, think they would be a great all year round vehicle (except for the gas mileage), and I do want one, especially the new sahara's with body color fender flares and body color hard top. now those are sweet! but the price. ahhhhhh. rather buy a new 5.0 (which I plan on doing come spring time if my student loan payments arent too too high per month)
