OK........got the WAY lean condition corrected. Found out that I missed tightening one thing that made a huge difference. I had the nitrous plate under the carb for mock up and the lines on but not tight. So it was sucking air in under the carb. I don't even have the bottle in but just checking for hood clearance.
Once that was remedied it was breaking up lean at cruise speed. The idle was set perfect at 15:1 but to achieve that the idle screws (it only has two) were out 3/4 turn each. At the urging of a friend I turned them out 1.5 turns. This made it go way fatat idle (10.5:1) but the cruising lean condition got much better.
So make that all better my plan is to bump up the primaries like we talked about before and lean the idle screws back out.
But now there another issue. When lightly tipping into the throttle at about 2600-2700 rpm it starts breaking up and the wideband shows lean. Tip in a hair more and it smooths back out. I can recreate it at will to make it sputter then smooth out. Not sure what this may be but my buddy suggested timing. My initial is set at 14 and total is 35. Ignition parts are all MSD. He suggested backing the timing down a little and see what happens.
And just for giggles I'm going to swap on a different Holley 750 that is all stock and see how the AFR does for driving around.
Until next time.......
